Just started tuning . somebody told me I need to go to a 02 os for ease of tuning
I was of the understanding you could not flash a custom os into a 98 ecm. Can somebody clear this up for me please

You are right. You can't put a 02 OS in a 98PCM. If I misled you on this I am sorry. :(

Thanks for the help chad . Don’t you need a 01 pcm and harness to upgrade the os? Does any one make a pcm pinout adapter so i can switch to a newer pcm?

99+ and you are set. But, the conversion is not as simple as a pin out - so i hear

not that I'll be considering this for a long time but, what else would be involved in swapping to a 99+ PCM?:D

Wiring harness is involved. THe 98 harness won't work with 99+ PCM

PCM pinouts are different. No rocket science. 99+ uses a different set than the 98. The 98 is the last of the LT1 configurations if I recall.

Are all the sensors the same between 98 and99+. just out of curiosity

a better question............ is the connector pinout the only change that needs to be done to swap a 99+ PCM into a '98?:cheers:

instrument cluster is a problem in fbods, not sure about vettes though

shouldn't be a problem.
I put an '01 cluster in the car to upgrade to HUD, all C5 clusters are interchangeable.:cheers:

Ok I have repined the pcm connectors and redy to get a newer pcm. Can anyone tell me if I can use a truck os? I called the salvage yard and they only had truck pcm’s. I only have the personnel version of flashscan. Im thinking I can use a 02 truck os and change the parameters any impute is greatly appreciated
