Just curious. Why is it when you do a DSP5 Upgrade that the custom calibrations are labeled DSP1, DSP2, DSP3 & DSP4 when in fact the main tune is DSP1 and the others are actually DSP2,DSP3,DSP4 and DSP5? Just something I ask myself a lot.

NON DSP5 is the factory tables/stock locations for all tables.

DSP1-4 are added in the Custom OS

Been that way since 2006 or 2007 when we tested them and named the DSP2 and then DSP5 way back when.

I know that 1-4 are added in the custom OS. But I was just curious whey they are named 1-4 and not 2-5 since Non DSP is DSP1 on the switch and DSP1 is 2,DSP2 is 3, DSP3 is 4, and DSP4 is 5. Just can be confusing when you are first starting out. Thanks.

The base file is the NON DSP file, and the DSP 1-4 are the DURAMAX switcheable tune files. They just made the #1 position the NON DSP, then 2-5 the DSP files.

Yes, we've made that determination. So when you build your tune in the DSP1 OS in 7.5, what switch position is it on when you load it in your truck. 1 or 2? 2. Which is what I am talking about DSP1 goes to position 2 on your switch. Why didn't they name it DSP2, DSP3, DSP4, DSP5 in the OS because that is where they are on the DSP5 switch. The NON DSP TUNE goes to the DSP1 Position on the switch.

If you're worried about the labeling on your switch, change the label. Believe that's really what this gets to, doubt EFILive will change the DSP tune labeling after so many have been running around for years now. Or have the switch read from 0-4 instead of 1-5.

1 Non-DSP
2 DSP1
3 DSP2
4 DSP3
5 DSP4

0 Non-DSP
1 DSP1
2 DSP2
3 DSP3
4 DSP4

I'm not worried about it. If you read my original post, I said I wondered why they labeled them that way when that is not how they lay out on every switch I have seen. Just was something I ask myself when I'm working on DSP5 tunes. It's all good. I'm sure they are not going to change them either. Thanks.

Well in fairness EFILive wrote the DSP OS's first, then came the switches which we had nothing to do with.
