View Full Version : Which wideband in EFILive V8 do I choose?

I have setup/modified my Autocal to read with a wideband thanks to the thread i found on here.

I have a Ballenger Motorsports AFR500, which is essentially the NGK AFX, with the NTK sensor. Which model do I choose in EFILive here?

EDIT.....now trying to figure out how to wire into car for analog input

Try ECM.

But, I don't know that the AFR500 has serial port...

Ahh, my bad. Its not serial. Its analog.

So is there anything I would need to do/custom PID and setup on the Autocal for that to work?

You can't use a WBO2 with an AutoCal directly. If you have a spare input on your ECM, you could potentially wire the analog signal into that.

For a FlashScan V2, you can simply hook the wires into the orange adapter and plug it into the V2. Then setup a custom PID in V7.5 Scan tool to use the proper voltage offset for your given WBO2.

Looks like i can use a serial one by doing this: https://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?26113-Autocal-and-external-wideband-using-serial-comms&p=224316&viewfull=1#post224316

But looks like the wideband i have may not work for what i am wanting then. Dangit.

Any recommendations then for me folks?

If you're not using EGR, then you could use the EGR pintle position 0-5V input for your wideband, as Erik said.

ill check. 2015 V6 Camaro LFX engine. I dont believe so

Yes, but this process requires opening and voiding the warranty of your AutoCal which is why I didnt suggest it. If you're willing to crack it open and add a WBO2 input, then by all means go for it!! Interested to see how it works, havent done it myself.

I actually had a 15 Camaro 3.6 LFX last weekend on vacation as a rental, pretty punchy little V6. Not quite the big gobs of TQ a V8 has, but I did like the exhaust note and felt it pulled pretty well even from 70-85.

I have it modified right now to accept a serial connection. Just not sure what connector to put on the end...

I am looking at just ditching the AFR500 and going with...say a PLX.

So, in that case...what connector would i need to get for the wideband/Autocal? Just the 3.5mm jack? Or a RS232 connector? Reason im asking is im looking at the PLX and it looks like its a 3.5mm jack.

There has to be a way to use this analog wideband ....

Talked with my tuner, Overkill, he siad there isnt an EGR pintle available to do that (no EGR on the car).

Attached is the pin-out for my car

I am using pin 38 next to GM Lan Data+/- right now for E85/Flex Fuel Sensor.

You can buy a Innovate LC2 for $150 shipped that has serial out. You couldnt pay me to fight with an analog wideband again, havent used one in EFI Live since you could use serial widebands.

...There would be unsed EGR pins on the ECM connector, you would have to populate these pins and enable EGR input in the tune.

Or, could use ACP or EOP inputs.

Why are you using AC instead of FS...?

Im sorry...i may just be dense...AC instead of FS? I am new to the whole tuning process...still learning.

Derek, what you can do is wire in the analog signal from your wideband to one of the factory 0-5v signal wires such as the aircon pressure sensor or EGR, regardless of the car having used egr the pcm still has the logic to take a signal from it.

Then you setup the autocal/flashscan or software to log the factory sensor, you then use a calculated pid to convert the voltage to an afr/lambda signal.

You can use the 0-5v pins for practically anything, i myself use it for widebands & even the ethanol & fuel temperature from a flex fuel sensor.

We have a flex fuel sensor wired in right now and are reading that through the autocal-and we had to enable pin 38 on the ECM. So, i see what you mean now. Ill link my tuner to this thread and let him take a look.

Thanks

May end up just going with a serial (LC-2) and being done with it as it will wire right up to the Autocal after i connect a serial connector to it.
