View Full Version : 2009 Silvy with 4L80E swap ... can someone look over the TCM file?

Just need to make sure everything in there is good as it is. The only changes I've made are updating the gear ratios from 4L60E to 4L80E values and adjusting speedo tire revs/mile ... someone may have been in there in the past, just not sure if they did anything else. I can't seem to find any files to compare and the repository seems to be offline.
Thanks in advance!

Using a Frost adapter harness with the external PDNDL switch harness pinned in. Previous pwner only set it up with the neutral safety part of it jumped to stock harness, nothing worked through BMC and no-lockup. Now lock-up etc. and all the BCM features work after I added the PRNDL option. The early Frost harness didn't have the PRNDL connector on it since that was part of the vehicle harness and not internal to trans like in 2009

The Frost harness is for driving a 4L80E from a 4L80E segment, correct...?
( i.e. not the other harness which drives a 4L80E from a 4L60E segment )

Well, from talking to him, it didn't need anything but the harness and no segment swap was needed. How would I know that a segment swap is needed? Everything seems to work and shift correctly; although a little too firm.
Is there a way to test two different files with/without?

Joe - this is the same truck I have been working on - he is working on the transmission while I try to figure out the tune. It is controlled by a T42 controller - when you do a 4L80E swap on these, you don't swap segments do you? not sure how you could...

So the only thing glaring I saw against another tune someone else uploaded here is the 1st gear wot setting from speed only (what was) to speed and rpm (what is now) ... it may be my imagination but with the gear ratios and this change that I just reflashed, truck behaves a bit better around town

Since this is a T42 (can't do segment swap) from a 4L60E, you have to use Frost's cable (which uses a relay to invert the 2-3 Shift signal and uses the TCC On/Off signal to drive the TCC).

I'm still going thru your tune.
What rear axle gear ratio do you have...?
What tire size...?

Here is a 2009 T42 4L80 calibration. It is stock other than the VIN being changed for a project. Maybe this might help.

Hmm that's a lot of stuff that's different. Wonder if I should change vin and flash it after fixing gearing

In that file the WOT MPH shift parameters are upside down (from the factory).

Which table?

The WOT shift MPH parameters:
D1011 vs D1061 (and others)
D2011 vs D2061 (and others)
D3011 vs D3061 (and others)
the downshift MPH has to be below the upshift MPH.

Is there a 2012 vehicle 4l80e calibration I can use in my t42?
