Just made a big mistake--being in a hurry and loaded a file with incompatible boot, I'm guessing.
I just had to do something simple on a 2008 Sterling Bullet 6.7L auto ECM, and just toasted it.

Are there any other compatible ECM's ....like a 2008 3500 6.7 ?

It might be recoverable, but not from the limited info :hihi:
What led up to it being toasted, or why do you think the files aren't compatible?

It was programmed with a Smarty originally...then back to stock.
The file used has an evil boot loader or something. B9999 Incomplete, Do Not Flash warning
I never saw.

It's nothing you did...it's what I did.

In Scan and tune, it shows this...so I assumed....?

Right ok, then sorry that ECM is toast then.
What actually happens is Smarty add some additional data outside of where the regular flash covers, unfortunately they don't adjust the flash pointer tables to suit so that additional data never gets written and the result is unfortunately what you hit. It is a completed flash that isn't really complete. To rub salt in the wound 'return to stock' with their tool doesn't actually restore the ECM to 100% stock as you would assume.

With the 'do not flash' warning I've considered pulling it because we can't always detect problems that might cause a failure. It just looks for some specific byte patterns, but at the same time it might save someone with as it is now.

How are you guys going with the fires, it is in your province isn't it?

Yes...thanks for the info.

As for the fires, much further north than us. It's been brutal for those folks, and Alberta has been doing quite well in raising funds for those that have been laid up. We just sent a $1000 worth of
water bottles, shipping out on the 17th. It's pretty devastating to those that live up there.

It is pretty bad indeed, for us in the southern parts of Australia bush fires are just part of summer, every year without fail we have them. Really hot summers dries everything out, then we get hot northern winds roll in, a small fire in those conditions turns in to what you have there very quickly.
Last I saw nobody had died in the Canadian fires which is very good news because they are massive!

By the numbers...
229,000: Size, in hectares, of the fire that ravaged part of Fort McMurray.
1,547: Number of firefighters in Fort McMurray.
121: Number of helicopters. There are also 194 pieces of heavy equipment and 28 air tankers.
2,400: Destroyed structures in Fort McMurray, five times as many as were lost in Slave Lake in 2011.
88,000: Number of people forced to flee the city last week.
25,000: Evacuees who fled north that have been escorted to more secure southern zones by Sunday.

Sadly it looks like it is so big only a change in weather will stop it.

In case this helps anyone else...I took the stock Sterling bullet calibration, modified for my application---and programmed it to a regular 2008 Cummins 3500 auto ECM. Works fine. Problem solved--customer says the truck runs great.

Is anyone able to program a new ecm for a 2008 Sterling Bullet?
