Hi All,
Writing from Melbourne, Australia here. I have recently converted a vehicle using a Gen IV 6L (L98) from a VE Commodore and an E38 as stand alone using EFI LIVE.
Had a well known tuner in Western Australia supply me with an E38 ready to go with base tune, VATS removed and everything else that needs to be done to facilitate stand-alone E38 running.
Car started first flick of the key, runs perfect, no codes. However, after about 5 seconds of running, the fans switch ON and stay ON.
Using an OBD2 code reader, the coolant and IAT's look good.
I believe the ecu has been setup to ignore all A/C functionality.
I'm also having trouble with reverse lockout in that I am feeding a speed signal into pin 71&72 on the X1 connector from a magnetic reluctor via Dakota Digital box that drops the pulses down from 108/revolution to around 48/revolution, but the ecu does not appear to be activating the lockout switch at speeds <5km/h or so, or at all.
I wonder if these two issues are related?
Can anybody recommend someone in Melbourne with keen stand-alone E38 diagnostic skills? Or should I just make the EFI live purchase and sort this myself, hehe.
Thanks
