Hello. I have the above operating system running in my current E38. I had purchased a new ECM as I have been told mine may be bad. I currently have a spare 12612384 ECM. Will this run the 12612381 OS which is my current OS? The ECM in the car has no label.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Patrick

At the time, I was working with speartech. He finally sent me one that worked with the T42 for my 4 speed automatic but that is all the information I have. Is their any way the EFI live reader can give me the unit info besides the operating system?

No sorry, the service number is not stored in the ECM at all, it is only on the printed label.

I do see that my OS is located in the compatibility reference chart, column one. I have a new ECM 12612384 (on the chart) but I will need a new license for it.

Per other thread - if ECM at fault - quite unusual. More likely wiring if you already changed the O2 sensor out. Surprising that Diag systems is not detecting the lazy O2 signal. Normally the diags are quite sharp. :)

Your OS is a 2007 VE Commodore - possibly for middle east Chevy use (same car - A4 trans - if Speartech supplied it for an A4). ECM for that is 12597121. GM never used 12612384 ECM for 12612381 OS. While brickification unlikely, certainly corruption of some sort is likely if 12612381 is used in 12612384. :O

This is a list that I have built from cars I have tuned. "VIN" is the first number of the build no in your VIN (first no after the L)

12612384 ECM will work if your "VIN" is 8xxxxx or 9xxxxx

If you are running a T42, then I don't think a 384 will work
I have never seen a VE with a T42
