View Full Version : 2012 5.3 truck with 6l80e (vette tune) won't move.

Swapped a 2012 5.3 e38 with 6l80e into a 62 Willy's wagon. Also installed a speartech tap shift shifter from speartech and flashed in a Vette t43 tune. Engine fires right up but when I put in any gear I have no movement at all. Engine just revs up.

At first I had a p0700 and u0100 code (also still have a map voltage low code) but I turned those off. Still no go. ECM and TCM flashed through the obd plug so comm should be fine. Accessory wakeup voltage has 12v.

This is a customer vehicle who just received some bad news and is trying to enjoy what time he has left. I'm trying to get this done asap for him

Any ideas? Thoughts?

VIN says engine is a 2012 and OS is 12647991
Vette TCM OS (unsure of year) is 24261871

Are these compatible? Is there anything I need to do to verify tcm and ecm are talking? When I try to log t43 I get "generating error.... out of range $03"

With the scantool, there are some pids you can log which show the state of the gear selector lever, the current gear, and other TCM status...

Anything wrong with using a 2013 TCM vette flash with the 2012 truck ECM flash?

it should work 2012 ecm and 2013 tcm but if you can do a 2012 tcm corvette flash with GM MDI or GM tech2 it should work, do you have low voltage code on the tcm? there is a way to phisically fix it, you cant fix that code with the tune.. with engine running try to delete codes and put it on gear , let me know what happens

Ok I have since flashed the original TCM truck tune in and still no output movement no matter what I do or what gear I'm in. I am getting a trans temp reading when logging so I assume communication is good.

Are there ANY basic tests I can do to rule out trans mechanical issues vs electronics? Should I hear solenoids clicking when I use the DVT tab? Are there any PIDs I can monitor for basic diagnosing?

I am not getting any TCM codes at the moment. None are deleted in the TCM since I just reflashed it.

Please help

Is there any way I can command first gear with efilive? Simply putting in drive doesn't not do anything. Fluid is topped off.

Hope this helps. I logged pretty much all trans PIDs and let engine idle. I then went through the gears. scan tool shows shifter position and 'gear' says 1 so I assume its commanding 1 but nothing is happening??? Output speed says 0 but it almost feels like engine load changes slightly when going in D or R

Gear changing starts about frame 220

Issue resolved. The mechanic that installed the trans did not put a filter and pickup tube inside the trans. Unbelievable. It was just sucking air. 5 hours of diagnostic time wasted second guessing my harness and tune.

In his defense the engine and trans were a takeout from a big wrecking yard and were sold as a changeover. He just fabbed up some mounts, dropped it in and gave me the harness and ECM. Don't know why the wrecking yard pulled the filter and pickup tube out.
