Is this possible? Looking at a 07.5 2500 gasser. Would like to flash an OS into it to allow for easier adjustments without the virtual stuff. Thanks

No we never went down that path. HPT initially did but then I think they stopped that and now switched back to VVE as well. Yeah it is harder to deal with but the system is better in some ways than just a plain old VE table.

yep and if you open up a efilive vve tune with hpt's vve it's completely messed up as they are using simplified kpa arrangements.

hell, you dont even need to make a change to the tune, just reflash with hpt and the car will run rich as. lol

That seems really strange unless they silently change data in the cal after opening.

thats what i thought. but could repeat it on an e67. soon as i flashed the same tune back with efilive. start up and mixtures are spot on.

did you try flash it with HPT, then read out with EFILive and compare?

nope. we did it because the owner of the car had a hpt cable and mentioned that the car was running real rich after he made a small change. so once i was done tuning it with efilive. i read it out with his cable. flashed it back. car was running .87 lambda everywhere.

flashed it back with efilive. spot on at 1. until pe was required.

Reverse calculating the VVE is pretty hard and we do ours in a way that works around a bug GM have in the E38 & E67 VVE code.

I tuned my VVE in my G8 and a couple C6 Z06's (E38) in EFI Live then read it out in HPT, then made changes in HPT and read it out in EFI. I used whatever I happened to have out and never had an issue going between the two. HPT makes its have a LS1 style looking VE which seems easier for some people started out but EFI VVE has always worked awesome for me.

And I think that is why they did it, just to make the transition from LS1 or E40 to the E38/E67 easier or at least more familiar. I suspect they stopped doing those custom OS's when they realised the scale of what needed to be done to keep on top of all the OS's out there. With over 100 OS's between the E38 and E67 alone I would imagine what they do with the 'real VE' mod would be quite a task and probably wasn't viable to continue when they stopped charging for the COS (at least I heard they did).
