hi
i`m new to this forum and to cummins engines too.i have a cummins QSB 6.7 tier3 engine driving a generator.the set was not started for about 2 years, and no battery was connected to engine.now after 2 years i am about to start the engine.cranking is ok but engine won`t start.i bought a cummins inline 5+software for fault finding, i tried to connect to ECM but after many attempts connection wasn`t successful.
all cables and interface are brand new and seem to be ok.in the software window, setting is on AUTO DETECT.
when i try to connect to ECM,the condition is as follows.
1:red led on the interface is on
2:blue led for USB on the interface keeps flashing rapidly
3:blue led for CAN/J1939 flashes 2 or 3 times and goes out.
4:blue led for J1708 flashes 2 or 3 times and goes out.
5:then all blue LED`s go out but red led keeps on(power).
6:software window shows an error(code 5204) and there is no connection stablished.
i checked all possible problems but all were ok.
Question:is it possible that the internal eeprom program to become corrupted due to long time of no start and no battery on the engine? if yes does this eeprom memory loss make the ECM not responsive to inline 5 requests?in other word;it seems that there is no ECM?
sorry for long text...
thanks a lot for your helps...

EFILive's forum can't offer support for a Cummins product, unless someone on here uses it daily they might know.
