View Full Version : Read out friends tune... all "unknown"

2007 GMC 2500 P/U (classic) -- Read out the tune, tried to open, and everything on the left just says "Unknown".

Was this modified by some other hand-held programmer? Can I flash it over with a fresh stock tune and go from there?

What ECM type?
It may simply be an unsupported OS or a custom OS by another tuning program that EFILive will not recognise.

If it's not readable, would I be able to find a stock tune, and do a full flash?

Thanks-

Yes, that is a very early OS that GM has released updates for multiple times.
Updated OS's are:
12613248
12619624

If you find a suitable stock tune with either of those OS's then you should be fine to full flash over the top of the old OS.
Both of those updated OS's are supported in EFILive.

Agreed with GMPX, this thread has had a chunk of the community pitch towards a drop box(s), Tunefiledepot has been replaced... , I have a bunch of GM files but seems like the ones I didn't have I found here, major props to all who stepped up.:good:

Can you help me out with a link to the tunes? Thanks--

Sure thing Jim, here's the DropBox link: DropBox repository for EFILive tunes (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4ydh5wltk3ssxbw/AAAOydqwo_stEO4Rs4SRJ9NGa?dl=0). Go into the GM Truck folder, look for a compatible file. Download it, then full flash it, make sure the VIN is correct, and you should be good to start tuning.

Thanks, great resource!

-- Nothing in there quite matches up (at least, it seems???) I am still on the hunt...

Hey Jim, I found one with the first OS (12613248) that Ross posted up for a 2007 Classic: 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic 4.8 LR4 4L60E (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4ydh5wltk3ssxbw/AABgpe5o6mQj00CeVfHDJckAa/GM%20Truck/2007%20Chevrolet%20Silverado%20Truck%20Automatic%2 0LR4%204.8%20Litre%20%28PCM%2012613248%29.tun?dl=0 #)

What does the truck have in it now, is it a 4.8? If it's not, you'll either have to tweak this base file to suit the truck (VE, MAF, injectors, spark, transmission, ...) or get a factory-fresh file for it using SPS. I know for a while, some shops were selling base tunes where you pay a fee (was around $50 IIRC) and they'd use your VIN, flash a controller via SPS, read the file out and email it to you. I don't know if anyone is doing that still and I dont think I have a 1MB LS1 PCM lying around.

Yeah, it's a 6.0 / 4L80e -- The closest thing I can find is from an H2 but was modified pretty heavily.

I might just tell him he has to go to a dealer and get the update(s) done before I can do anything with it.

I have a mildly modified (TQ reduction, shift points/speeds etc) tune for an 07 classic 2500 HD (6.0/4L80E) with the 248 OS you're welcome to if you want it.
