View Full Version : I think I damaged my V2

I was pulling a tune from a truck to modify and the truck had a bad alternator, the battery had a bad cell too I think. I didn't find any of this out, until after I tried to read it. It would read about half of the PCM and stop, so I cycled the key and tried a second time. Same result. I told him something wasn't right , and lifted the hood. That"s when he told me he had a few "electrical problems". (I won't connect to another vehicle before a good inspection in the future!!)

After lifting the hood, I immediately removed my equipment. There were spliced wires and jumpers all over the back of the fuse/rely center, which was pulled out and flipped. Long story shot, I cannot get V8 or V7 to recognize my V2 when its plugged in.

I figured this out when I went to modify a tune for my truck, and I kept getting the "Demo" message. So, I tried to use V8, and it will continually tell me there is nothing plugged it.

When I plug it into my laptop, all the leds light, and it goes back blank for a few secs, then the orange led second from the right blinks. After that, the screen is just blue, and the software will not recognize it.

If I plug it into my 09 Tahoe, I can get the screen to read, but some of the function and buttons don't respond.

I'm going to reinstall the software, but does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I'm kind of worried about this...............

If you get the blue screen lighting up but no actual loading/booting of the unit, check your USB drivers on your laptop. Use the EFILive USB Manager and remove the drivers, reboot your system, then use the same tool to re-install the drivers.

I do need the usb driver, because if I look for the Flashscan V2, is reads that the usb driver is unavailable!!

Thanks, I'll try reinstalling them, didn't think about this.

Glad it was a simple driver issue! No problem, now get back to tuning! :)
