Stupid quick question-
LY6(keeping VVT) with 4L65E, the preferred ECM/TCM would be E38/T42 correct? and these will run standalone just fine with no BCM?
A/C and all gauges will be canbus? nothing discrete?

Should be pretty straightforward, I'm not sure what used E38/T42 with a 4L60/65/70E (Express Vans have the LY6+4L80E from 08-09) combo. Yes, just those 2 modules without a BCM. Can't speak to the gauges, that can be a function of the platform of the OS (truck vs Vette vs Camaro, and so forth).
I'd use the Express van ECM OS and TCM OS (4L80E), then segment swap in the TrailBlazer SS Trans and Trans Diag segments (4L70E) and disable the ISS. I know the OS #s line up for 2008. 2009 4L70Es have a different setup (no 3-2 solenoid I believe) so stick to 07-08.

I think an 08 silverado E38 and T42 trans controller will work too. Did the express vans come with VVT?

Yes they did, the LY6 engine has AFM and VVT. A Silverado with E38/T42 would work too and would likely have the same TCM OS # as the TrailBlazer and Express making it another good candidate for segment swapping.

2008-2009 only.
2007 Express van was still Gen III/LS1b PCM.
