You could try with TIS, pretty sure it'll do it if all the stars align for what it is looking for.

Yeah, I think what GM dealers get vs ACDelco's version is different.Acdelco shows the history correctly for other vin's that I have, but this one zr2 shows an os that isn't on TIS... It's real weird because all the other vins I check, have an os that is found on the history of calibrations. 55504430 doesn't show under the vin read from the ecm. I'm using that os from my17 and I'm needing that os on my18 and I'm stuck with the os compatibility. Haven't tried TIS yet and I didn't want try the mongoose and reup a subscription to test an unknown

You aren't going mad, when we had the 55504430 OS sent in for support there was no trace of it on TIS (and still isn't).
The release order went.

55503875 - On TIS older
55504430 - Ghost
55508105 - On TIS current

The only thing I can think of is some vehicles came with 55504430 new but got updated at the dealer before delivery (or that was the intention).
Either way TIS doesn't know about it that is for sure.

I knew I wasn't going mad, because you guys have it supported... My issues are with *8105
I need that replaced by anything prior, and I'm having problems because the newest MY18 are rolling out with that on board already. This is what I need the Pro License for ... I've sent my email requesting access and hopefully rec info soon🤙

I don't know if this helps your situation but the updates are supported OS's now, well they might have made it in to the Feb beta I'm not sure.
I've attached them anyway if they didn't, save to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EFILive\V7.5\Calibrations\E98

Cheers,
Ross

P.S - No DSP option for these yet.

So just to be clear so we are on the right page, your quest isn't actually about rolling back the updates GM put out, you want to exchange between the two year lists below is that right?

2017 = 55488069, 55503875, 55504430, 55508105
2018 = 55488112, 55508116

The current Feb 2018 beta will allow a roll back from (2017) 55508105 to any other older 2017's on that row and 2018's 55508116 back to 55488112.
If you want to go from say 55508116 (2018) to 55504430 (2017) then I would discourage that but the Pro license would let you.

Sorry I may have mixed things up
What I've got is my18 zr2 *8112, the files I have before that, all come from my17's, which give me a year make model barrier with "incompatible os" warning and my goal is to get passed that

My previous response still applies then :hihi:
"I would discourage that but the Pro license would let you"

Look it might be ok, but there are year model running code updates that might have little hidden gems to ruin your day. That sort of detail only GM know about.
We just based it on experiences from the past where for example on an E38 controller if you force a 2008 OS in to a 2009 ECM it will lock the ECM and corrupt everything so the vehicle will not start. It is a GM design change that cannot be accounted for unfortunately, but typically what they do is release new part numbers with such changes so dealers can't screw it up with TIS either.

If the 2018 ECM is still using Service Number 55485591 then you have a reasonable chance of it working ok (assuming all the other modules on the 2018's will talk to the 2017 OS alright).

Where did you get that info? all the files i have indicate controller service numbers of "55591599", not "5545591", all the way back to the very first OS i have "55493455"
Does that indicate ive gone mad or was that a typo, or was i looking in the wrong place?

Not really much at this stage, it just allows people to bypass some of the safety checks we have in place (like being able to flash mismatched OS's).

The motherland, LOL. I'm not in the USA but the ECM I am looking at is from the US.
Now I see what you are referring to with the cal info, that number is manually entered, it is not pulled from the file so don't rely on what is in there as gospel.

Funny thing is we can't win on that field, if we have all the service numbers people read that as 'this file will work in all those service numbers shown' or on the flip side like you've just seen with one number missing it's confusing as well.

I'll have to check my ecm and others to confirm... But even at that, it's still something I need to try. Like you said, running changes for a new model year, and that's exactly my problem. There is a running change that affects my18 and I need around that, even at the price of a brick... I'm not just wanting 4430, I would try 8105 first since it it supported...

Problem:
We have a patient in the programming environment, we have an ecm, pro license, and the files all prepared... We go to flash, $0540... Any insight?
Attempting 4430 into 8116

Target os is filled in as 55508116, file is signed with v2 connected... should the pro license not skip the $0540?

Are you black box flashing using an AutoCal device?
The file that is being flashed must have the target OS set to 55508116 which means the target controller MUST have that 55508116 operating system installed in it.
In that case the AutoCal will display "OS ALERT","CONTINUE", at that point the user must press "Ok" on AutoCal's keypad to allow that tune file to be flashed over the top of the existing 55508116 OS.

Other things to check if you are black box flashing with AutoCal:
make sure you have the latest firmware in the AutoCal.
make sure you have the latest support files installed on the AutoCal in the [Config] file system.

Or are you flashing using pass-thru with the FlashScan that has the Pro license?
In that case you don't need to fill in the Target OS field. You just need to check the check box that allows overrides in the warning dialog box that will appear when flashing.

Paul

Weve tried BBX w/ autocal and PassThru w/ autocal, both error with $0540... Will have the autocal firmware and config files checked/updated \nnn/
The recipient ecm does in fact have that os on board, which is why we are using that 4430 specimen to get off that... There are things in that os that dont play well... GM did some things in there... I cant confirm what they did, only that something was done in regards to tampering triggers...

The "Target OS" field is only used when black-box flashing. It is ignored in pass-thru mode.
In pass-thru mode the pass-thru device MUST have the Pro License installed on it - which means only FlashScan devices can override the target OS in pass-thru mode.

Can you send a pass-thu trace file to me at paul@efilive.com

The AutoCal is definitely picking up the ECM as OS=55488112.
Can you send me the file you are attempting to flash into the ECM? I'll try setting up the same conditions here and see if I can get the same failure.

Best way to determine what OS is in the ECM is to get the AutoCal customer to perform a "Record Diags" which will save all the diagnostic info about the ECM (and TCM if it is available) into a text file on the AutoCal. Get the customer to send that file and it will show you the OS number in the ECM.

i.e. The start of the file looks like this:

[INFO]
DATE=FEB, 20 2017
TIME=11:20:04

[ECM INFO]
VIN=E39W7AFG0H1xxxxxx
OS=22637084 <-------------------this is the current OS as reported by the ECM
Serial=86K190xxxxxx
Calibration ID=N/A
Stream=E38

[ECM CVN]
22637084=A55D
12635474=2657
12637167=A6A3
12625892=36F2
12633822=25C0
12635030=9AF1
12634070=180A
12635478=4F68

[ECM Monitor Status (Since DTCs were cleared)]
MIL=OFF
DTC_CNT=0
MIS_SUP=YES
FUEL_SUP=YES

etc...

I don't have the file yet, but I think what has happened is this: The two operating systems: 55488112 and 55508116 are compatible with each other. It appears as though the file you have was read from the ECM when it had 55508116 in it. Then the ECM was updated to 55488112 (maybe by the dealer as part of a scheduled service?). So to override that OS you need to put 55488112 in the Target OS.
