2016 GMC DENALI
A8 TRANSMISSION

STOCK FILES:
21912 21913

This is the first time I'm actually playing with the A8 and I started looking through the file.
My customer does not like the way the truck shifts. I drove it and I would have to agree!!!!
It is not at all like the 5.3L A8 or even the Corvette A8. It isn't responsive and fairly lazy. So, this is causing a few issue's and I'm hoping that someone may have come across this and may have some answers that can help me out.

When driving the vehicle, you have to really bury your foot into the throttle to get the transmission to downshift. I think I may have found out why:
21914

If you look at the TPS scaling for when the transmission is looking at when to shift, the resolution is nothing like a Corvette.
A Corvette is:
0 6 12 19 25 31 37 44 50 56 62 69 75 81 87 94 100

A 5.3L A8 is:
0 6 12 19 25 31 37 44 50 56 62 69 75 81 87 94 100

THEY MATCH!!!!!

I'm thinking that if I could get the resolution on the Axis to mimic a Corvette, that I could get the trucks transmission to be more responsive and not feel so "lazy".
I don't want to mess with B8802 too much as it can make the throttle a bit touchy. I don't mind trying a few different settings here, but I'm thinking the resolution is the main issue.

Has anyone performed a "Full Flash" into a newer A8 with the OS from a Corvette, or maybe a 5.3L truck A8
I didn't want to experiment with it for fear of "bricking" the ECU or doing something that may cause permanent damage.

Thank you.

Is there a table for the TPS axis...?

Is there a table for the TPS axis...?

Good question
I'll open up the file and dig some more.

I hope so! I didn't see any when I looked the other day.

Is there a table for the TPS axis...?

I went through all of the table in the file
There is no "parameter" or "table" that allows the modification of the resolution or the X or Y axis.

The axis is there but not visible.
What I'll do so you can experiment is change it so you can see and edit the axis and let us know how it goes. I'll post a .calz file up here today sometime.

Cheers,
Ross

AWESOME!!!!
Thank you, I appreciate it.
I'll flash the cal file into his truck and see if we notice a big difference in the way it responds.

Ross,

Sorry to be a pest, I was hoping you may have an update for me on this one?

Thank you, again, for your help!

Sorry, it did slip my mind.
I haven't bothered labelling the axis but if you just search for 'A9800' that will show you the values used.
Keep in mind if you change this it will change a lot of other tables axis points that also refer to A9800.
To see the change you do need to save the file then re-open it, unfortunately that is a limitation on how V7's editor works.

So save the attached file in to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EFILive\V7.5\Calibrations\T87

Cheers,
Ross

NO WORRIES.
I just appreciate the help.

And yes, I'm comparing them to a 5.3L truck file and a Corvette file.
I'll try flashing this in the customers truck tomorrow night. I want to get some feedback from him to see how he likes it and if it solved the complaint.
Once I'm done, I'll post up my findings

Thank you again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT WORKED!!!!!

Customer came by yesterday and I flashed the change into his ECU
It was night and day difference!

I highly recommend anyone tuning a 6.2L, do this to the tranmission.
