I'm not sure why I haven't run into this before, but I'm having trouble getting the speedometer to do *anything* in an L99 swapped classic. Many of the e38 swaps I deal with use OBDii interfaces for the gauges, this one is using Dakota digital VHX which utilizes the single output wire from the ecm into their box. I've done this several times with LS1B ecms so I am familiar with the gauges themselves but for whatever reason this e38 is giving me issues.

There is a single signal wire going from ECM X1 pin 57 like everyone says to do. I've tried basically every combination of settings within reason on the bottom 6 setting boxes. Searching has turned up very little.

2010 Camaro L99 E38 with 6L t43, all stock engine and trans. Aftermarket harness and wiring and pins have been verified. I can watch speedo data on the scan tool so the info is getting into the Can-bus I just can't seem to get it out of the ecm and into the gauge. 22070

Anybody? Would I be better off asking this question in a different section?

Did you try using a pull up resistor in the circuit ? Not sure if is necessary or not.

The cal is set for serial data in the image - is that what you have set it up for?

im running a similar setup in a conversion.

I had to do a pullup resister on the tacho & vss signal. Unfortunatly in my case, the ppk value is still much lower then what i needed for my speedo to read correctly so i had to fudge the shit out of the calibration. So now when working on shift speeds you need to log vss from the trans & not the ecu.

so i had a look at mine, change your h0164 to can late. do the pull resister on the line and report back

OK, thanks! So a pullup resistor to power, correct (not pull down to ground or anything like that)? 1000 ohm good enough?

1.2 kohm might be easier to find.

I've tried everything above, settings and pullup resistor, no luck. I even tried a different aftermarket speedo that I know works. I found this thread, am I simply dealing with an OS that won't support it?

From my looking at LS1B OS's, my guess is that there is a setting in the System segment which controls it. There are quite a few different settings which are not mapped out in EFILive. If you had a copy of both binary files, it might give you something to play with in terms of where the differences are.

Heres my tune file if anybody cares to find something I've missed. Engine and trans are stock as far as I know.

Tre-cool, I didn't get a chance to load your tune but I'm assuming it works. On that same day a friend emailed me a bone stock vette file that fit in the compatibility column. I figured I'd start with the cleanest slate I could. I made the basic VATS changed and loaded it and the speedo worked (not accurate yet, but it moves)! I still have the resistor in place from before. I am considering removing the resistor and see if it still works then maybe load yours as well. Maybe I'll do a little experimenting to see if I can make some sense of all this. Why do some E38 systems work and some not, etc. I guess its part of the software in the background that EFILive doesn't give us access to??? Maybe this info will help others. Do NONE of the truck and Camaro e38s work, only the ones from a vette, due to the background settings?

Thanks for the help guys.

well when i played with mine. i tried the camaro e38 os for both the ecu/trans & couldnt get the tapshift to work as a hardwire.

but the holden ecu tune with the camaro tcm base would work. so go figure.
