View Full Version : E38 Idle Fine Tuning

Hi All

I'm having some issues fine tuning my idle.

Currently facing the two following issues:
1: When shifting from Drive / Reverse into Neutral or Park the engine will hunt and eventually stall. However in Drive / Reverse or Park (after starting the car) the idle is rock solid. If I try and blip the throttle a little to catch it as I reverse out of a driveway and put it into gear its ok.

2: When taking off from a stand still or just as I come off a speed bump there is some very light throttle surging which I'm not sure which tables to adjust?

Engine is a LS3 with a 228˚ / 238˚ @113˚, 3000 Stall / 6L80.

I've tried adjusting the following tables from stock but they are having no affect.
B1829 Minimum Idle Airflow (I'm pretty sure this table is now dialed in)
B1845 Idle Proportional Step Size (To be less aggressive)
B1843 Idle Integral Step Size (To be less aggressive)

I've attached the tune & log. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

If you adjust the proportional it will simply make it stall.. Those proportional rarely need adjustment. I would leave them as stock. There are a couple of tables that do help with this transition and you need to be aware of them. There are many subsystems that get activated as soon as you go to drive.
