Download EFILive V8 (http://download.efilive.com/Software/V8/EFILiveV8.2.21_Setup.exe)

Known Issues:
Issue #1:
If you are Black Box Logging PIDs from an ECM and TCM simultaneously and you have selected a PID from the transmission controller (TCM) that has an identically named PID in the engine controller (ECM), then when the log file is loaded back into the V8 software for viewing, that TCM PID will be displayed as if it originated from the ECM. The PID's data will have correctly been logged from the TCM, only its name will appear to indicate that it was logged from the ECM.

Workaround:
None.
It is a restriction of the *.efi (V7.5 log file format). That restriction will be removed and the TCM PIDs will display their true origin once the V8 scan tool software is available and fully integrated with the V8 tuning tool software.

Issue #2:
When logging DMA PIDs (i.e. PIDs whose names end with "_M" or "_DMA"), if the ignition is switched off for an extended period while data logging but data logging is not terminated, then when the ignition is switched on again the data log automatically continues. However the DMA PIDs may no longer return valid data.
Workaround:
EFILive recommends stopping the data log and restarting the data log when switching off the ignition for extended periods.

While greatly appreciate the few 2018 csp operating systems that have been added but are you going to add in 2016 and 2017 OS that have been over looked?

You need to give Windows 10 permission to write/update files in the C:\Program Files (x86)\EFILive\V7.5\Configuration folder. To do that:

Open Windows Explorer.
Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\EFILive\V7.5\Configuration.
Right click on the "Configuration" folder name and select "Properties".
Select the [Security] tab page.
Click on the [Edit] button.
Click the [Add] button.
Type in your Windows username (if you don't know your Windows user name, click [Advanced], then [Find now] and select your username from the list and click [OK]).
Click [Check Names] to make sure the name you entered is valid (it may change to prefix your computer name to the username).
Click [OK].
Make sure the newly added username is selected in the list and check/activate the "Full control/Allow" check box.
Click [OK].
Click [OK].

For V7.5 issues:

To completely reset V7.5 to factory/install defaults, close all EFILive V7.5 software, uninstall, run "regedit" and remove the entire V7 registry hive from here: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\EFILive\V7.5 then re-install.
You could try modifying the V7 Tune Tool desktop icon (right click and select properties) so that the "Target" field has a " /l" at the end. (that's space, forward slash, lower-case L, without the quotes).
Then run the tune tool "as administrator" by right clicking on the icon and selecting "Run as Administrator", that will create a StartupLog.txt file in the \Program Files (x86)\EFILive\V7.5 folder.
like this:
22513
Try looking in that trace file to see if it shows any issues.

-----------------------------------------------------
For V8 issues:

To completely reset V8 to factory/install defaults, close all EFILive V8 software, uninstall, delete the V8 install folder: \Program Files (x86)\EFILive\V8
and delete the three files:
Documents\EFILive\V8\Config\EFILiveScanAndTuneLayo ut.ini
Documents\EFILive\V8\Config\EFILiveHapi.ini
Documents\EFILive\V8\Config\EFILiveScanAndTune.ini

Try starting the V8 software by double-clicking on the V8 Scan and Tune desktop icon while holding down the Ctrl key on the PC keyboard. That will create startup log file(s) in the folder: \Documents\EFILive\V8\Trace called
EFILive_ScanAndTune_StartupLog.txt
EFILive_Hapi_StartupLog.txt

Try looking in those trace files to see if they show any issues.

If those options don't help, please create a support ticket, as per these instructions: https://support.efilive.com/kb_article.php?ref=7778-QEKN-0400

Thanks for the tips but unfortunately that did not work. Will be creating a support ticket

Sorry it was a computer issue. Tried to use anther tuning software and it was having errors as well. Just use that laptop for tuning so I did a reset and all is working well now. Not sure what the issue was just easier to reset and start over. Thanks for your quick response though.

Getting this error all of a sudden. It was working fine and then I opened a tune today and another using the open to compare function. Updated a few tables in the first tune using update function and now I get this message whenever I try to close 7.5.

Try deleting the V7 registry hive. You can do that by:
Close all EFILive software.
Run "Regedit".
Locate the key: \\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\EFILive\V7.5
Delete the V7.5 entry and all subkeys
Close Regedit.
Restart V7 Tune tool - this will recreate the registry entries with their original default values.

WARNING: That will revert all your EFILive software settings (such as colors, windows sizes, recently used folder names etc), back to installation defaults.
However, it is possible that one or more settings are faulty/damaged and could be causing the problem.

Paul

Paul,
Did as you described. Still getting the same error. I opened a tune and then closed 7.5 and that window pops up. I haven't had any issues with it since the update until I performed the compare and update on a tune today.
Thanks

Edit the shortcut (right click, select Properties) and add " /l" (that's space, forward slash, lowercase L, without the quotes) to the "Target" field, like this:

22537

That will turn on startup/shutdown logging for the V7 software. A trace file called "StartupLog.txt" will be generated in the V7 install folder, usually: \Program Files (x86)\EFILive\V7.5.
You will need to run the altered shortcut using right-click "Run as administrator" to allow the EFILive software to create/write the trace file in the "program files (x86)" folder hierarchy.
After you get the error, send the StartupLog.txt trace file me at paul@efilive.com

Log file sent. Thanks

Log file sent. Thanks

Nothing appears wrong in the log file - everything checks out OK.
The only other option I can suggest is to uninstall/reinstall the V7.5 software.
After uninstalling, I recommend deleting the \Program Files (x86)\EFILive\V7.5 folder before reinstalling. That will ensure no old/damaged files are left hanging around that may interfere with the new install.

I've tried uninstalling it, deleting the folder as well as the registry then re-started the computer and downloaded and installed 7.5 again. Still get the same error. Sent another log file in case something showed up this time.

Possible bug report.

V8 Scan and Tune program

F5: BBX->F2: Scan

First time I have this page up, the 'function viewer' for calculated PIDs works fine. If I close the BBX window and return to the main program screen and then re-open F5:BBX, then the function viewer does not work and I get an access violation. If I restart the program, function viewer again functions the first time I open up the F5:BBX window. I get a slightly different error depending on if the V2 is connected or not.

Another small bug, hope you guys don't mind.

When selecting a V7 default dashboard within the BBX menu on the V8 software.... if the file name for the V7 dashboard has a space in the name, the next time the BBX window is opened/saved, it drops anything after the space in the file name:

Thanks guys, it's really nice to see you taking feedback and fixing things actively. Obviously not huge issues, just things as I come across them. I'm probably in the minority, but I like BBX for street logging and use this stuff pretty frequently.
