Hello,

The e40 ecm is restricting me from upgrading to a 160F thermostat because I can't adjust the fan settings to trigger on/off below 89c per the ect vs fan power scale. It is my understanding the EFI Live's custom os extends the table providing a wider range of control. I'm trying to figure out which COS I need, if one is available. Thanks in advance.

E40 ECM
GM OS 12613269

I don't see an E40 COS...

It's there in most normal OS' Joe, applied like DSPx via V7.5 Tune tool.

Plug your V2 in, then open your tune. Click Upgrade OS and you should be able to apply the COS that way. If not, your OS may not be supported in which case you'll need to get another OS that is supported. I believe the Vette OS, GTO OS, and TBSS OS are supported for 2.5Bar COS, however GM may have made some updates to the OS which arent supported. Simply swapping to a supported OS is all you need to do.

Thank both for your support.

Just to confirm connect v2, open up tune tool, click upgrade OS, if applicable select the appropriate COS, reload latest calibration, adjust custom calibration parameters as indicated in COS tutorial, save as new baseline calibration, and may reload new calibration to confirm settings are correct and vehicle is operating appropriately.

If that is so, thanks all for your assistance and happy holidays.

Ah, I see it, on the Upgrade OS tab when viewing an E40 LS2 file.

Yep, those are the correct steps. There should only be 1 COS for E40, but select the correct OS upgrade and click apply then resave as a new, base COS file. I'd suggest starting with your stock tune if possible, then copying over the changes to the new COS base file.

I was able to load up the COS. I don't believe the e40 ecm has any of the parameters mentioned in the cos upgrade tutorial which significantly simplified the process. The only section that needed attention was the ect vs fan power % scale. The 2 bar settings that needed scaling were irrelevant for my application.

The process was as follows: connect v2, open tune 7.5, open latest calibration file, select Upgrade OS tab in the calibration window, 2 bar OS was highlighted and the only upgrade available, click apply upgrade, efilive will freeze for a moment as it applies the changes and then will prompt when the changes are complete, save as new cos calibration file, reload new cos cal file, rescale cooling fan table according, rescale map sensor b2101/b2102 (if applicable), populate new boost ve table (if applicable), save changes and then perform a full flash ecm. That was it.

Once again thank you for your assistance and happy holidays.
