I've deleted the Vats, applied the patch, disabled the starter relay diagnostic. The engine will start, then immediately shut off like the vats is still active. Any help appreciated!

Did you do a full flash of the ECM once the patch was applied?

G1219 starter relay diagnostic? Yes, I changed it to disabled. This is driving me insane and the customer is getting inpatient

I'll have a look at the file you posted.
Customers are always impatient, don't stress :hihi:

Out of interest, have you checked the DTC's after you've attempted to start/run the engine?
Also, these cut fuel and spark for VATS, might be worth a quick look to see if it is cutting spark when it dies, if it isn't then it might not be VATS related.

It always has spark, its cutting fuel injector pulse

Ok so as I was saying, these ECM's cut fuel AND spark when VATS is active.

Ok, I triple checked, the ECM is cutting fuel and spark after the initial start. There are no active or pending codes.

Well, that makes things hard.
I know this method is supposed to work fine, maybe PM the person who posted in this thread to see if their conversion worked just to see if they ran in to any issues, we pretty much did exactly the same thing.

I've read a few post with 2017 and newer ECM's that state even with the starter diagnostic disabled, they still needed to use a resister with the factory starter relay. Do you have any insight on this?

I don't have a 100% confirmation on that. It is my understanding that when the ECM is not happy about the missing starter relay the engine will not fire at all, nothing. Turning off the starter diagnostic 'should' eliminate the relay detection from working. I guess it shouldn't be too much trouble to quickly wire something up to check.
It is hard to get a solid answer because of course once someone gets something working it's out the door and on to the next job.

Yeah, VATS is not disabling Fuel is how I read that. Did you put the relay on the starter output to see if that cured it?
