lm7 to lq9

new to tuning so bear with me please 01 chevy 1500 with the lm7 went to upgrade cam found bad bearings and was in the middle of rebuilding a lq9 and decided once the lq9 is done im just going to use it instead now Im trying to stay with the ls1b if possible. what im asking is what would be the best way about going about swapping over to the bigger displacement can I transfer over the main ve for the displacement and other data to get it set up for a base tune I did do a cam and long tubes I lnow I will have to adjust idle and such but I was curious if I used most data from a lq9 stock tune would that get me close thank you for your time

There are plenty of LQ9 tunes... try one of those closest to your year model, use it as your starting point.

Oh ok I was in aware that that could be done so just swap the vin over on the tune and I dont have to change the os or anything

The LQ9 didn't come out until 2003 1MB PCM.

He has a 2001 512KB PCM

You can use whatever tables are available in the 2003 LQ9 and copy them over to your 2001 LM7 file. I built one in the past but I would have to dig it up. We swaped a 2005 LQ9 into a 99 and used a 2002 Base file to get the E-fans functioning properly.

That is what I was going to try to do cause of the electric throttle body in the lq9 tune just use what I need for the most part cause I also did a cam and intake so I know it will be a bit of work then dyno tunes after so thank you that's what I was curious about

Here is the base file I made after a few minor adjustments to get the Efans working properly and a few adjustments for shift points.

This is in no way a final tune. This was just to get it up and running. It was a Bone Stock LQ9.

Pretty sure the LQ9 came out in 02 with the 0411 red/blue pcm. Heres a copy of an 02 LQ9 file on dropbox. It is a DBW tune, so I wouldn't segment swap, just compare and swap.

here is a lq9 data for a ls1b 5.3 ecm if any one would go over it but this is what I came up with and the trans info needs more work but lines pressure have been adjusted and shift time have also been adjusted other than that stock tune

Engine:
- B3601 is set close to the stoich AFR for E85, is this the fuel you're running...?
- B3606-7: possibly dangerous if those conditions arise.
- B3608-9: set to 0.05 s.
- B3616: set same as F-car (65% below 3200 rpm, 35% above 3200 rpm).
- B2618: set to EQR 1.185.
- B5913-14: set these same as F-car (and run 92+ octane, which you should be with any compression ratio above 9.5).

Trans:
- the WOT mph upshifts/downshifts are upside down (the downshift mph must be less than the upshift mph).
- set throttle kickdown tables to 100% (to allow MPH shift tables to control shifting).
- set desired shift times to 0.3 s.

I just swapped data over plan on premium fuel unless you would say 85 would be better I'll adjust those and see what we come up with then thank you for the time to look at it

I moved b3601 from 10 to 13 or should I go to 14 to be better
b3606-7what should I set to so there isn't a danger zone b2618 isn't coming up in search and on b5913-14 would I use the same table as high I do apologize for the questions a little new at the gas side of things

B3601: set to stoich AFR of your fuel (9.7 for E85, 14.2 for E10, 14.6 for E00)

B3607: set to EQR 1.13
B3607: set to ERQ 0.95

B2618 is a typo, sorry, it should say B3619.

B5913: use F-car HO table
B5914: use F-car LO table

No sir I haven't as of yet i took the efi university online classes to get a better understanding which opened up alot but those I'm not sure of
