View Full Version : Good start tune for Radix 2bar and cos3?

I'm wondering how my tune looks to more experiences eyes.

I'm just starting to tune the truck now that the Radix Magnacharger is installed. The vehicle is a 1999 Sierra with original PCM. I have it running now using COS3 1250003. The camshaft is a Comp XR275HR and engine is the LM7 5.3L The MAP is new matching Cobalt SS part. There are no other mods except valve springs and full exhaust without cats. My next step is to get the olod LC-1 wideband working and then work on the VE tables. Did I miss anything obvious? This is my first blower/COS tune.

It was running ok. Last month I did full dual exhaust with headers and now with COS3. Throttle blip bogs from idle. Attached is a short log. I haven't tried it in gear yet.

Cheers

Runs pretty good now. Except IAC steps sometimes goes to 150 and hangs during throttle blip. Not always.

This cam does have a fair amount of idle lope. I still have lots of work get the idle as smooth as possible in order to reduce the dreaded rotor knock

IAC goes high because PWM calculates airflow too low...

Thank you Joe
By PWM do you mean Pulse Width Modulation or am I missing the accronym?

I have the truck idling quite nicely now by moving the desired and parked airflow up a little more to match the calculated air flow rate.

Now, I am having troubles uploading any files to the forum. When attempting to upload my selected files receive a red exclamation mark beside them. Maybe this is because I have been using an old windows XP laptop. I'm not sure. Maybe it's time to load efilive into a newer device so that I can continue participate in the forum. I will try to figure out what changed in the last week. This machine was my dedicated tuning laptop

Sorry I meant to say PCM but I was typing from my phone.

I use an old XP laptop just for EFILive. I'm not sure what changed. Not a big deal to move it to a different machine to upload things.

This is the tune of where I am now. Probably get it on the road in a week or more. Then I can do more VE tuning than 1800-2000 RPM in the garage.
It's coming along.

Are you able to upload log files...?

Here is my cold idle to operating temp. I still have some work to do on IAC values.

Also, my serial LC-1 using FSV2 is not close to my analog values using V1. I think I missed something in setting up the serial V2. Should I start a different thread?

I forgot to mention the AFR displayed on FSV2 seems correct, but my logs show a different value.

I'm taking a closer look at your logs...

Post your calc_pids.txt file if it is not stock.

I found the calc_pids file I was using was blank. Now with the file from here it the afr values seem correct...

I am still working on IAC settings.

Did you get the serial AFR and BEN pids working...?

I was not having too much luck getting the serial readings to match the what my V1.2 will read analog. I was not able to update the firmware either, likely because I was using an old XP laptop.
I have now reinstalled the software into a newer windows 10 and successfully updated FSV2 as well as V7.5 and V8

Tomorrow I will attempt to get serial to LC-1 working again. I used the attached calc_pids. I'm not too confident I have everything right yet.

I'll take a closer look at your files to see why analog wb does not match serial wb.

above is some "in the garage" torque converter loading I did earlier today. I think the values from the serial connection are looking good now. With the KR I was seeing there, I decided to move all the timing table some. Here's the tune now.

did you ever change your b4004 from 0 (zero) above 3200 rpm. how was the car running with these values?

Ritch

24466I have not changed the b4004. It is still zero above 3200
I had been spending time getting the idle to run cleaner and not rattle the blower with the cams lumpiness.
its been running pretty good so far. I haven't made changes for a few years now
