I've been collecting CAX files 12587603 and noticed the COS 5 is mentioned in the files but it's not on my machine and I can't find anything else on it. Does it exist by special order or are 12225074 and 12212156 the only ones available?

It does not exist sorry, I'm not sure why there would be a reference to it.

I've been searching to see if COS5 and flex fuel are at thing but I only see two OS's supported. Am I missing anything?

If there is only two COS5's on OS's that support FlexFuel then that is what you need to choose from.

I only see support for 12225074 and 1221215 in 'C:\Users\New Owner\Documents\EFILIVE\V7.5\Bins\Custom OS" neither of which have flex fuel.

Oops! Nevermind... I found some posts that explain the situation and I'm only 10 years or so behind the curve. SNAFU! :)

The reason I was asking is I picked up a 95 Z/28 LT1 Torqhead conversion that has flex fuel and it got me thinking I'd like to update my SS to match. The problem is I don't want to loose my RoadRunner and the only 512M OS that supports flex fuel, 12216125, does not have a COS written for it. So I started looking at 1M PCM's and saw there's no COS5 for them... not the end of the world but between the two features, a pretty big loss to get flex fuel. I can use COS3 but saying bye to my Roadrunner is just sad...

Back when the COS was being developed, I never though twice about it because E85 was rare and the sensors were expensive! I guess there just wasn't enough available room in 12216125 to do it? (not that I expect you to start now but it would be nice lol)

Yes I remember the sensors were very expensive back then.
However for my own curiosity I had a look at 12216125 and yes indeed that binary is full! Approx 1000 bytes spare in the whole 512K so not enough to do what we need for a COS. Probably why GM started rolling out the 1Mb PCM in 2003.

This is probably why custom OS wasn't done (of course Ross is correct)... you are looking to do Nitrous with E85? I know it has been done on the 1mb ecms.

No just trying to decide on staying with P01 or P59...

I have a roadrunner for a 1mb. As a matter of facts its the same unit, just the PCM is different.

What Motes told me is, it's not the Roadrunner itself, it's that there are so many variations in p59 ECM that they wound up with a poorly selected batch of ECMs which gave them support headaches so they decided to stop selling pre-assembled 1M roadrunners. You should be good to go as long as you have the right ECM for your application.

I don't know why they're not more public about this. It is bad marketing to let a rumor floating around that there 1M version is broken. It took me more than a few emails over a couple of years to finally get the full story out of them. lol

that is correct

i actually need to send mine for conversion as my ecm has the whole coil circuit dead. But its the development unit for the COS stuff as I can't kill it.
