I have a technical question about COS. I have a 2003 Sierra with the LS1B operating system. I believe 12579405 if it matters.

Anyways my question is about turning off the MAF. It came to my attention while reading the tutorial that the MAF needs to be disabled while running a COS. I would like to keep the MAF but feel like I need to obtain a VE table that can read up to 8 lb of boost. Does anyone know why? Is it a technical limitation of the OS? Will it screw up the fuel calculations? If it leave it on will the OS just ignore it?

I will admit I am not educated about why this decision was made or forced. It just seems like the MAF would be nice to have with COS.

Can anyone shed any light on this situation??

MAF works fine on COS. I think the guide just assume you are going SD. I ran COS3 for a while before converting to SD.

Good to know. I will try it then. The guide does read as though the MAF will be disabled and not an option. Probably just an oversight as you are suggesting.

COS is able to run the MAF...

but with boost, the MAF will run out and peg.

Thank you for your many years of helping others. I have it in COS right now with MAF disabled. I used the MAF at least to help tune some of the VE and then cut her loose.
