DId my 1st pass and was wondering if someone could take a quick look and let me know what you think. I did some smoothing to clear up spikes/gaps in log. Suggestions/comments appreciated.

Finally, the land is flat around here and I had a rough time getting cell counts up. I spent to much time on the brakes that my brake pedal has dropped and wheels are covered with brake dust. Any tricks to getting higher cell counts without burning up brakes?

Could you post your .tun file you had loaded while collecting the data?

Did I miss something?

Good job at filling up the BEN map.

When looking at the data in the scan tool, apply the built-in Base Efficiency Numerator filter to take out any throttle transients. Instead of a filter of 5% per 100 millisec, I like to use 1%.

With the 1% per 100 ms filter applied, click the "Hide cells with low cell count button." This will give the cell counts shown in the cell.png screenshot.

A visual inspection of the average data (in ben.png below) shows an outlier of 1.088 as well as some holes in the data.

Copy and paste this filter BEN data into your V. For the 1.088 cell, hand smooth over it as well as hand smooth over the cells with no data.

A couple clicks of the "Smooth selected cells" button over the whole table will give you the VE in _0006.tun.

Load the new version, collect more data to repeat the process. In the next batch of BEN data, there shouldn't be anymore big spikes. Recommend adding the PID CYLAIR_DMA (grams/cyl) so that you can build a map to take the KR out of your ignition timing.

There's more than one way to skin a cat and this is just one way to do it. Try to see if you can replicate the VE in 0006 and what works for you to develop your own methodology.

After 100s of log and .tun files, you'll be an old pro!

P.S. The data is showing your fuel injector duty cycle pushing the limits at 100%

OK, adjusted the filter to 1%.

Where do I find "Hide Cells with Low Cell Count"?

Did you get cell to 1.088 after smoothing? I am confused on this one.

I can't open your attachment *.006. I underdstand this to be my VE table smoothed?

Appreciate the help. Just makes me realize how little I know.

The hide cells is under the properties of the MAP (ALT+ENTER). It is in the right most property page.

I am in Properties/advanced and do not see the checkbox in question.

The cell with BEN 1.088 (along with all the other cells) was copied from the scan tool log (after filtering) into the original VE map in the tuning tool.

The 1.088 gave the big spike in that VE cell compared to those surrounding it. The VE values from cell to cell don't change very much so one needs to make the executive decision to simply put in a new value where the spike is to bring it in line to those around it. I simply typed in a number like 95 (don't remember) or one could do the linear smoothing. Below is the VE table before smoothing.

Once the new VE is ready for testing, load it up and collect more data to make sure any smoothing or assumptions made were correct.

The attachments are wacky on the forum. PM me your email address and I'll send it directly.
