So after tuning hundreds of 99-07 PCMs i started diving off into the E38 and done several small cam tunes no problems.
Friend of a friend ask me to tune his dads truck after his dad had passed away.
Alot of unknowns about the truck since it was built in the back of the shop and nobody knew about it.
Best we can tell it has a LSA engine with the LSA Blower, Stock lower and upper pulley. 52# injectors.
comp 235/249 .608/.613 116+5 LSA
T42 4L60E with a 2800 stall

It looks like his dad got it to idle and move around pretty decent.

I towed it to my shop to start tuning on it and it has very lean tip in. So im trying to figure out the E38 tuning thing now for boost.

His dad was using HPT so i got his laptop and HPT interface. But i read the tune off with EFI just to see if it made sense to me.

So the HPT tune file shows MAF Calibration Engine>Airflow>General>MAF Calibration. But it doesnt have any type of "VE" table.

I read the tune off with EFI and i see it has the the Virtual VE but no Maf Tables for the Frequency changes like the LS1B and the HPT tune.
the truck has a wideband in it. just have to figure out how he had it wired up.

Now im at a loss and have downloaded all of the tutorials for the E38 tuning and now the fun begins.

Any advise or help is welcome.

Tunes attached if anyone wants to look over them. I have a 10 minute datalog from HPT also. LTFTs are very high.

hpt has the vve under the very top bar. just be aware the hpt map scalings are different to how efilive calculates the vve so it will looked all messed up if you make changes with efilive.

the maf tables in efilive are under the engine sensors area, 2 tables on that OS.

Thanks!
I don't know how I missed that. I must have skipped the engine sensor tab.

I gotta check fuel pressure now and make sure I'm not wasting my time.

If it's a corvette regulator (58psi fixed) shouldn't the IFR have a slope to it?
This tune has 52.4# from 18.6 to 58. Then slopes up to 56.8# at 69.6 where it flat lines to 92.8.

The IFR is sloped (actually curved slope) for non-return (i.e. unreferenced) fuel rail.

i.e. if fuel rail is MAP referenced then IFR is flat.

Found out the truck had a factory '90s fuel pump in it. So put a Deatchswerks 400 pump in it and got the lean tip in fixed but can't get it to riches up in boost. Even adding plenty to the MAF table

I'm having trouble with VVE on an E67 where it kicks itself out of PE mode. Check for that as well.

It shows its commanded the fuel. I have it set to 11.0 just for now but it's not richen up. Gonna try and do the VVE next. All this rain makes it go slow. So might have to go to the dyno

Post a log file.

Post a log file.

It's in my VVE Questions thread, see frame 1337. It also commands 12.2 from 1531-1675 at low TP angles. I wonder if I'm logging the wrong TPS PID? I only cracked on it once for that log though. Definitely some weird stuff happening. I have tunes, logs, and screenshots posted in my VVE Questions thread here in this section.

Last I perused the PE settings nothing jumped out at me, though I did see an injector desooting procedure could kick it out? The symptoms didn't seem to all match up though.

I cheated.
Ended up paying a guy to help and his 3rd tune was almost spot on.
Apparently the previous owner had been using the wrong base tune and it was wayyyy off.
But now we are good to go.. I don't like these new ECMs. They are way over my head

In your log I saw several things...

You are logging some E67 pids (E67.AFRATIO and E67.APCYL), but your ECM is E38.

Log SAE.LAMBDA and see what it is doing.

Log GM.ETCTP instead of GM.TP.

But, regardless, I see at frame 1337 that it drops out of PE.

It good you got it sorted out.
