I just last night tuned using EFIlive Custom OS3 a twin Turbo LS1 on 10 psi and on Australian Mobil 8000 98 fuel. It made 393.7rwkw on a dynolog dyno at about 5500rpm. I think this is like 616hp on a dynojet.

It wasnt easy and it needed lots of trimming. Compared to a NA car its much harder tuning a turbo. We had trouble without it pinging because it was rich initially and found that there seems to be a narrow afr zone where it is happy and timing was also very sensitive.

The scan tool in EFILive was sensational.:master: :master: I set it up to give an alarm at knock over 1.5deg and that kept us alert - but also with high stress:Eyecrazy: . The dashboard was able to keep up in real time perfectly on my new laptop which had a Core Duo T2300 processor and 1Gb of Ram.

Did some more tuning tonight
Mostly autoVE tuning of Boost and Main VE table.
The challenge has been in transition into boost fueling and timing.

One issue to pop up is that the car a VT SS M6 LS1 is showing knock in the logs but a knock event has not been heard even once. The cars previous tune had ping pong ball noises but this tune is quiet and seems heaps better. The old tune showed zero knock in the logs and was done with HPTuners custom setup - i guess its had the knock sensors turned off. This one i have left close to stock in all the knock settings.

I am wondering if the VT LS1 1999 model in Australia had greater knock sensitivity or something. ??

By the way this car is very fast - it would more than match a good performing stock cammed LS1 from 100 to 160 with just 5th gear (3.45 diff) and just 2800-3200rpm.

Would be fun to watch - but i dont think so!

But it can do 100-160kph in 3.5s in 3rd gear.

The car went on the dyno again today.

It made 394.5rwkw on the same dyno and 973Nm of wheel torque which is 22Nm up on last time.
This time at peak power it was a little lower on boost 9.4psi

Here is a screen shot of the timing tracked during the run.

Crikey mate, Whats timing at peak tq, looks like 10-12*

Its climbing before peak torque - the engine like it that way. Peak boost is the problem with KR. Its boost peaks early and then slowly drops away.

Its now running 12.5 to 10.5psi and has a combination of boost timing retard and richening up before peak torque. Transition to full boost is where the problems are.

On the road it accelerates so voilently when it comes onto boost it spins easy and its hard to tell if its false knock or real knock at around 3200-4000rpm. Its rich 11.4:1 pre-cat at below 4000rpm and has almost no advance. Consequence i guess of running 12.5 psi on a car with 10.1:1 comp and on Australian 98 pump fuel.

How much timing are you running? Peak torque and peak hp??

What size turbos?
