Hello,

I have tuned lots of 4l60/80's never really played with the AL5.

I put a 100hp tune in a 2005 LLY against my advise into a customers service truck, a very heavy k3500.

When he goes wot, the transmission goes into limp mode, Is there anything besides building a transmission that can be done?

Thanks

Put it back to stock..... Even then, since it's been limped, depending on how many times it's limped, putting it back to stock might not stop the limps. 100hp over is 'Walking the line' even with a fresh stock LLY/AL5. Some hold it, some don't. Anything with mileage is a huge roll of the dice.

In this truck, limp is almost always in 5th gear. Torque is what creates it. If you drop the tune 10-20 HP, and build an AL5 tune that prevents 5th gear below 2400 rpm (downshifts to 4th at higher speeds and lower throttle position), you can eliminate the limp. Or just advise the customer to get smarter with his right foot in 5th gear.
