Hi all,
I'm new to EFI Live / V8 Scan and tune, purchased it about 3 weeks ago to try and diagnose a problem with my 2007 LBZ Duramax / Allison 1000.
E35A and A40 controllers.

Problem 1: EFI Live V8 will not "Auto- detect" the A40 TCM controller. ( I always have to manually select it)

Problem 2: Once i have manually select the A40, and i add PIDS, when i try and validate the PIDs to the controller, i get an error...
It Read:

You are attempting to validate PIDs for controllers E35A and A40.
But controller E35A was detected.
You must select the controllers (and only the controllers) to which FlashScan or AutoCal is connected,
use the Auto-Detect option if necessary.

I will post a photo...

Can anyone help me as to why this is the case?
Thank you for your time.
-Alex

We've seen a number of situations where customers think they have an A40, but infact they have an A41 controller. A40 is supported, but A41 is not.

To check which TCM you have you'd need to look at the label on the TCM.

While A41 is not and will not be supported, some users do have luck in setting up a BBL configuration for A40 (without validating PIDs) to perform logging. While not ideal, it seems to be an effective work around to bypass some of the ECM checks the software has in place.

Regarding auto-detect and PID validation, if auto-detect does not work, the software is unable to establish communication with the controller, so when you attempt to validate PIDs the software is still not seeing that controller.

Cheers
Cindy

I have tried several good working A40 TCMs with the same problem.
I have been in contact with other LBZ Duramax / 6 Speed allison owners with the same problem.
Is there something that i can provide EFI Live to help resolve this problem?

It works fine when scanning 2007 LMM Duramax / 6 Speed Allison
- Please advise.

Hi Alex,

Try using the latest beta release software available here: https://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?29699-August-2020-Beta-48-Release-7
(Note: this beta version is about to be updated in the next day or two - so be sure to take another look soon and update your beta version).

Once you have the latest beta version, if the auto-detect and validation still fail, then after the validation fails, open the EFILive Control Panel by clicking on the [Control Panel] button in the main V8 window and select [F8: Trace], then save a trace file and attach it to this thread.

Regards
Paul
