View Full Version : How to convert KPA into pounds of boost??

I have been turning up the boost more and more. I want to make sure a am well over 800 RWHP next time I hit a dyno on 93 octane.

My question is, how do I convert the KPA READING OF 227 to lbs. of boost??? Do you think this boostnumber from the Map sensor 100% accurate, even over a boost gauge??:)

I believe the conversion is 6.895 kpa = 1 psi. I'm going off memory but it should be close

A MAP of 277kPa is equal to a boost pressure of approximately 175 kPa. (You have to subtract 102 kPa which equals 14.7 psi-- atmospheric pressure.) 175 kPa equals 25.38 psi. Assuming you're running a 3-bar map sensor and it's calibraed correctly, the numbers should be accurate.

The tuning tool can convert for you If you cick the blue car icon you will see a conversions tab there you can choose the to and from units from the drop down menu

Hmm, be careful of the kPa to bar conversion.

If you want to fix it, you'll need to modify the file:
\Program Files\EFILive\V7\Configuration\unit_conversions.tx t

Change the line:
0072 = kPa bar * 100.0 0.0
to
0072 = kPa bar / 100.0 0.0

Sooo, 227 KPA that I am at equals 18.12 PSI????

-102 KAP
/6.895
= 18.12 PSI????

I cannot believe I am really running that much boost on 93 octane??? I guess if I am, I am! Is this correct??

I'd double check the boost gauge-- 18psi on pump gas sounds unrealistic unless you have a super low compression ratio.

This reading is off the efilive data log. I have 8:1 compression.

I need to get this thing back on a chassis dyno again for some REAL #'s!
