Please help me understand

I'm new to EFI live and tuning, I do have a long history in automotive and diesel training. I downloaded the efi live programs to my laptop, can I hook straight from that to my truck or do I have to have a flashscan or autocal to get me started. also what licenses would be required? any advice or helpful links would be GREATLY appreciated.

To use EFILive's software, you must purchase and use the associated FlashScan (or AutoCal) hardware. That is the interface that let's your computer connect to your vehicle.
