From the latest update of Duramax 2p8L E98 DSP4 Userguide it shows some conflicting info.
listed OS's are all in the 5 series like the 2016-2018 trucks have but notes for "latest OS for up to 2019" does not include the OS of my truck 24000143.
I remember reading in the past DSP4 would be added for the 2019 and newer trucks but as per that userguide now it wont?
im confused on the whole support of DSP4 at this point. will 2019 E98's get it? does it have support now that i just cant seem to find the tab for? running the latest beta2 software...

DSP4 for this ECM was last worked on in August 2017 looking at our records, GM have since dumped out a lot of updated OS's like all the ones starting with 24000xxx. At this stage we have not assessed the viability of converting all those to DSP4.
So the simplified answer is that nearly every OS past 2017 does not have the ability to convert to DSP4.

Thanks for the reply. makes me sad i wont be able to make my truck DSP4.
Just to be sure :) You cant do a full flash of a dsp4 OS based tune on a 2019... that will brick the ECU right? because the 5 series OS's are not supported on the newer hardware of the 2019.

Yes restrictions are in place so you can't exchange OS's from different year models.

Mine is a 2016 OS 24000173 and it doesn't appear to support dsp4 either, unless i'm missing something.

The DSP modifications are done on an OS by OS basis, regardless of the year model.
For example, the 2017 Colorado has 7 different OS's with 24000174 being the most recent GM have released, but 55503875 is the last one of this year model we did DSP4 conversions for.

Is it possible to load a different OS on a 2016?

Head to this website - https://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web
Enter in the VIN and navigate through to the ECM OS list, this is what we would allow to be flashed.
