Plug in your Autocal or Flashscan and look for the VIN/module info list under the Diagnostic tab. Scroll til you find the ECM. It will show the OS there

I have the Snipesy's CAX downloaded and everything opens. How do I update it to your CAX? Also does this only work on V7.5 or can you change it to a CAX8 to work on V8?

You would replace the CAX with mine. For this specific controller, only 7.5 will work. V8 doesn't have the configuration for the E47

I checked my OS and it’s 12681104 does that mean my ecu can’t be tuned using snipesy’s guide?

You can use OS 12662377. Just make sure you do a full flash the first time you flash a tune.

Thank you for answering my dumb questions! I’m not trying to make a hot rod it’s just my daily I want to make more efficient and reliable I’m new to EFI. I noticed on the DTC list it shows A and some other symbol between each word down the whole list is that normal or did I mess up uploading your CAX? Has Snipesy’s stock file worked for I can’t afford to brick my ecu and is his other file on there emissions intact?

I have the same thing in the DTC table. It works fine, just looks a little messy

The stock file is safe to use. I've built tunes off of it.

Yes, his modified tune is emissions intact

I did a full flash and now the car won’t start it just cranks. Any suggestions or help you can offer me?

Was it a stock file, or modified? My first thought if modified is that the checksums somehow didn't get corrected.

Scan for codes and see if you get any.

It was modified and I did scan for codes there were none. If it was the checksums how would I check or fix it? Or am I screwed?

Efilive will tell you if the checksums are correct, and give you the option to fix them if needed.

If you don't see any checksum errors, I would suggest flashing a completely stock file and seeing if that gets it running

I didn’t see any errors. Do I load the tune from the v8 software or v7.5? I tried to do it from the v7.5 but said “full flash is no longer supported must full flash from v8”. Do I need to do something to convert old to new software? Or should I try to flash the calibration now from v7.5? I tried flashing a stock file but didn’t change anything but that was on the v8 software as well.

It shouldn't make a difference whether you flash with V7.5 or V8. I usually load tunes onto my Flashscan and flash them standalone, but that should be using the same process as well.

I'm wonder if your car has a immobilizer problem. If you see a warning light that looks like a car with a padlock next to it, that could be why it isn't starting. Check if htere is a VIN number in the tune you flashed. If it doesn't match your car, that could be a problem.

That’s what I was thinking but I didn’t see a security light. If there’s no VIN do you have to manually put it in before flashing? Does the V8 software automatically convert the ctz file on its own?

I tried putting in the VIN and still no start. When I open the calibration up on the v8 software it doesn’t show a serial number is there supposed to be one there?

I've flashed numerous cars with no VIN in the tune file. That shouldn't be the problem.

I'm not sure what's causing the problem at this point. You may need to have the car reflashed with GM SPS or bench flashing

Update I got it running. It sounded like it wasn’t getting fuel so I went old school and shot it with some ether and it fired up after a few cycles of cranking. So was nothing to do with the tune. Thank you for helping out. Now to learn how to tune a diesel.

Glad it's running. I can't recommend starting it with ether though. Sounds like you made out this time, but ether can mess things up real quick on modern diesels. You might have a glow lug problem if you're having cold start trouble.
