I'm working on a Frankenstein project. Basically a bunch of parts that are all taking up room in my garage. I have a rolling chassis from a 1975 K30, an engine from a 2002 Silverado (4.8L with twin turbos) and an Allison 1000 from a 2001 Silverado w/Duramax.

I'm not committed to the allison, but the th400 is the other option and needs a rebuild and some hard parts and may not be useable at all. I'm trying to figure out what needs to be done to get the allison transmission TCM to work with the 4.8L PCM. I can look up wiring but is it even possible to get the two talking correctly? I can do the calibrations and tuning for other transmissions but if I remember correctly the allison uses adaptive tuning. will that even be tunable to work with the 4.8L? boost threshold for the turbos is higher than the Dmax redline so I'm worried it won't even be able to get to a high enough RPM to make power. are there parameters that can be set to correct this or am I just barking up the wrong tree?

I don't think you need to worry about the rpms. The Allison is also found behind the 8.1 gasser. Maybe start with an Allison calibration for one of those instead of the Duramax? As far as getting them to talk and work together, not sure. Could be interesting.
