I just made a change over from V2 and an outdated laptop/software to new laptop, new V3, and completely up to date software/firmware. I need to convert the old CAX files I have on the old laptop to CAX8, but the software I downloaded to the new laptop doesn't have a V7.5 directory for the V8 converter to pull from. I'm up in the air here on the way ahead. The software on the old laptop predates the converter and I don't want multiple versions on the new laptop. The old laptop is also too old to install anything newer onto because it has a Vista OS. If I just copy and paste over the V7.5 and calibrations directories onto the new laptop will that satisfy the V8 converter and allow it to do its thing? Or is there another way to convert CAX to CAX8 onesie twosie as I don't have a ton?

Yeah, just copy the CAX files from the old laptop, and save them somewhere on your new one. The converter in V8 allows you to select what folder you want to pull the CAX files from, and it will automatically save the CAX8 in the correct location.

I guess I should have clicked around some more, the allusion to the V7.5 folder must have been meant more as a memory jogger then. Now my problem is that the CAX isn't working, which may well be an issue with the file itself. I suspect my gear indicator type isn't showing properly as I can't do a CASE relearn on this LS1B controller because the PCM doesn't see whether or not I'm in P/N. The file is in the appropriate CAM folder and named with the same OS that I'm using which is also in that CAM folder. I seem to vaguely recall issues with certain CAX files pertaining to the V8 changeover, but it's been eons and I was certain I'd already done this successfully. I'll see if the old laptop will let me do it. . .
