I have a 2018 L5P duramax 2500HD
i had purchased the Autocal V3, does anyone do custom tunes with the autocal V3, i just sent back my edge evolution tuner in hopes i can get a tuner that supports a DEF delete. i want a tuner that supports it so when i decide to do the delete i don't have the worry about a tuner or anything like that. i can just have someone send me a tune and ill be good, but right now it is fully stock and just would like an economy tune. and an option to switch to a deleted tune after i proceed to that. i have looked all over and cant find anyone who does custom tunes with the efilive products with this truck. can anyone point me in the right direction? if i get the Flash scan will that allow me to just slightly tweak the stock file without being overly complicated? do i need the flash scan and autocal v3 both to tune my truck my self or can i just use a flash scan if i sent this autocal back?

To make changes by yourself you need a Flashscan not an Autocal. The tough part is going to be finding a stock file as you cannot read your stock file through the OBD Port. Not to mention the unlock process. Good luck in your endeavors. EFILive L5P support is not openly talked about from what I have seen.

I have the ecm already unlocked by the edge ecm unlock tool. So i got that done but yeah like you said the stock file would be hard to find

You will have to be sneaky and speak lightly on the whole Delete tune deal.

Yeah, i didnt realize how hard it would be to just change/tweak some settings on an l5p duramax. Is a delete possible on hp tuners? I heard they dont support deletes but i also see plenty of people having custom tunes for the l5p with hp tuners. Im just kinda stuck right now unsure if there is a tuner that supports a delete and is able to do normal tunes with emissions intact, so if i want to do the delete down the road i have a tuner that will do that when i want it too. But i understand the whole lawsuit thing which i also thought was now legal and fine to do? I don't want to spend $1000 on a tuner that is only for emissions intact, then another $700 on one thats for a deleted truck, is there a tuner that is able to do both? Ive heard of ez link and efilive but efilive nobody does the tunes for l5p and seems impossible to do what i need to do.

EFI Live and HPTuners dont support the remove of the Emission settings in the tune. But there are ways to do stuff.

Ive used EZLynk on some F250s and it will do Tunes for emissions intact and other settings all from your cell phone.

No tuning suite will do emissions deletes on newer trucks. Hard stop, end of story.

If you would like to do anything outside of what is offered, you need custom definition files to expose those parameters.

And thats where the money is...

Can you explain what that is? Or know where to get them? I been looking at tuner depot, looks like they got a delete tuner, can i not just get a delete tune from someone to open those parameters?

In EFILive terms, a custom definition is a CAX or CAX8 file.
They expose parameters that aren't defined by EFILive. EFILive has official documentation on how to use them.
Having a certain tune doesn't expose parameters. They are set and not shown to you.

Without being offensive, if you are looking at TunerDepot you are probably getting a bit over your head with custom parameters.

And thats where the money is...

Not sure the intent of the comment, but I'll bite.
People invest hundreds of hours (maybe more) in to finding certain things. In some cases there is a capital investment in hardware or software as well.
Is there some expectation that those definitions should be freely available for everyone else to make money off of?

Just to chime in on the bottom portion, I'm genuinely trying to learn but my honest take on that is it should have never been put on trucks in the first place so i blame the manufacturer for the problem, but in all fairness i do agree people should pay for the files if its custom.. thats just simply paying someone for their service. But i don't think that particular service should exist if it could be prevented because it is wasteful spending on both the consumer and the manufacturer.

zero negative intent at all.
Just saying thats where the money is cause if you dont know how to figure it out, you gotta pay to play.
I have no want to even try to figure out the definitions so i gladly cough up the moneys.

The EPA and .gov are mandating this junk for years. So no way around it unless you want to spend some money. And be sneaky at the same time.

At the top of the website click on settings, then select general settings. It will be there.

I prefer to discuss some things privately. Visitor messages are still public.

About your truck, it is possible to tune it with the Autocal you have, but you'll need to be linked to a Flashscan. If you're interested in building your own tunes, you'll want to buy your own Flashscan.

If you post your VIN here, I'll see if I can get you a stock file to start with. You won't be able to do anything with it at this point, but you can at least see what Efilive has mapped out for your truck.

About the ECM unlock, I can't say for sure whether or not Efilive will be able to flash with the Edge unlock. I know for a fact that the HPTuners unlock is not compatible.

This is my vin 1GC1KWEY2JF191175 would i be at all able to just put the stock file in the auto call then flash the stock file to my truck? Or is that just the function of the flash scan?

From what I know, the only current way to do emissions off on l5p is through hp tuners using user defined parameters. There's some shops online and an well known web page that sells custom definitions for ecus that will set you with the correct xdf for this matter. I've not read yet about efilive being capable of turning emissions off, and also, it is being kept silent because of epa's big fees.
