Hi all. I made a earlier post about weather or not I can use the efi software on my labtop without a autocal or flashscan to do a minute change to my trucks ecm which wasn't worth spending 600$ on. I've learned that the autocal/flashscan is a intermediate to the labtop to let you read and write to the vechiles ecm. Here's my question. What do I need? I know there is both a autocal and flashscan. Im told I need a flashscan to read and write tunes. However I know for a fact you can download the stock tune file with a autocal. Why couldn't I just use the autocal to do everything I need? I can rent a autocal for a somewhat reasonable price. Second, If i get a autocal or flashscan, do I need a "vin liscense" to do what I want to the ecm?
Its honestly funny how It feels like its more difficult figuring out everything I need to do to actually use the efi software than to actually do what I need to do in my truck. Thanks..
