Hi,

Doing engine swap and now at the point to download the os/calibrations. Have uploaded each stock tune file.
But they have different os numbers and I'm not sure how to proceed. Cannot change segments because of that.
I've searched some on this site and in the V8 Reference Manual but cannot find a direct reference to this situation.

My truck:
2002 Sierra 1500 4.8L 4L60E 3.73:1 411 pcm 12212156 os

Donor truck:
2001 Sierra 1500 5.3L 4L60E 3.42:1 411 pcm 12202088 os

My main question is: Can I simply download the full 5.3 os/tune into the 4.8 pcm?

Afterward I would have to change the speedometer settings and the VIN. (or before)

If that won't work, what is the best option?
I had considered swapping pcm's but I don't want to disturb the connectors if I don't have to.
Also doing that would entail a PassLock relearn. (which I'm keeping)

Perhaps if someone had a stock 5.3 tune with 12212156 os, it would make it easier.

Any additional info or guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

bjc

ps: Using blue V2 hardware and V8 S&T software, all latest versions.
(Do we not need 7.5 for V2 hardware anymore?)

It would be best to use a 2002 file with OS 12212156 donor 5.3 to segment swap the engine and engine diagnostic segments.

This came from a file repository. It is up to date too.

Yes you can use the 2002 tune that ChipsByAl has posted directly into your 2001 PCM but you have to do a Full Flash to accomplish this.

If you need help with the tune after that just post it up here.

You can disable Vats/Passlock with one setting if you would like.

After a certain V8 Firmware you cant use V7.5 anymore for anything.

V8 is much nicer to use once you figure out the layout changes if you are use to V7.5.

What size tire are you running? Looks like the tune provided is set for a 29.7" tire.

I'm not sure if BJC has licensed his current PCM. That's why I only provided the 2002 file for the engine and engine diagnostic segments to swap. He could always use the donor 2001 PCM as a backup, but he shouldn't use my provided file as is.

Yes Al, I did license the pcm from my 2002 truck.
I also used that file but I segment swapped my transmission data and diagnostic segments into it because the file was 4wd and my truck is 2wd. Then downloaded complete. Truck seems to run ok, but haven't driven anywhere yet.

I've posted other responses but they haven't appeared in the thread yet; Don't know why...

Using quick reply for this....

Hello again,

Going the other way around now, having put the 4.8 into the truck that used to have the 5.3.

I don't have a problem putting the newer OS in, but what I'm concerned about is the fact that the rear gear ratio is different.
This changes all the speed references, not just the speedometer settings.

So.... Wondering if anyone has a 4.8 tune with a 3.42 ratio from factory.

(preferably the 12212156 OS)

Thanks,

bjc

I've started a new thread about the last item I mentioned above.

Here's the link, should you want to respond to that.
