View Full Version : Going from 5.3 to 4.8 this time.... need another stock tune

Hello again,

Going the other way around now, having put the 4.8 into the truck that used to have the 5.3.

I don't have a problem putting the newer OS in, but what I'm concerned about is the fact that the rear gear ratio is different.
This changes all the speed references, not just the speedometer settings.

So.... Wondering if anyone has a 4.8 tune with a 3.42 ratio from factory.

(preferably the 12212156 OS)

Thanks,

bjc

Hi,

Failing a provided 4.8 tune, I have undertaken to copy over all the Engine parameters, both Operation and Diagnostics, doing so individually, everything that showed up as different between the 5.3 and 4.8 original tunes, into the original 5.3 OS 12202088 file. (a copy, of course.)

The copy between different OS warning was coming up, even though I wasn't copying a segment, which would have been much faster. I figured I could ignore that warning since I was copying only the data in all the relevant cells. Seemed to go well but it took a bit of time...

The one problem that showed up was that it refused to copy over the VE WHILE CRANKING, B0102, saying that there was a parameter out of range, although there was clearly no settable parameter with such a value.
In fact, doing a manual 'eyeball' of the data showed that all the table values are the same. So why did that table show up as 'different' in the Compare Tab?
I don't think it will have an adverse effect on the program, unless anyone here can tell me different?

The other thing is the data point B1401, Engine Size, which shows up on the Calibrations Summary page. I have found no location to adjust this, as it needs to be changed from 5.3 to 4.8. How can I do that?

I'll be downloading this later on; will update if any problems show up.

Thanks,
