V8.4.74 Public Beta Release - 3
Be careful when installing the beta software on your production systems. It is possible that the beta test software may fail and your production system may not be recoverable. If you conduct a tuning business, please take the necessary precautions to protect your business. EFILive recommends beta testers use a separate FlashScan V3/V2 device (when installing the latest beta firmware) and only install the EFILive beta software on a separate PC, laptop or virtual machine.
WARNING:
References to Activation Codes in the F7: Licenses window have been changed to Installation Codes.
When purchasing Installation Codes, the emails delivered by the on-line store will refer to the codes as Activation Codes.
Once the beta software is promoted to production, the emails will be updated to reflect the new Installation Code wording.
The current public release is available here (http://www.efilive.com/download-efilive).

Just a few issues. BBX flashing an encrypted l5p from an autocal , and possibly more controllers, fails at end of flash, from the last two v8versions. Not sure of a bbx encryption was changed during that time???.
L5p, is missing alot of safety checks, one being, it is missing an error message when the file in the editor has not been saved, and you try to flash in the file. It will flash in the file without a warning, and fail at the end from the checksums not being updated.
L5p, is not checking for the operating system to match during a cal only flash causing a permanent dead ecm if the person flashes in a cal only flash into the wrong os.
A lot of the vin changing for multiple controllers is saying "no data recieved" when attempting to change the vin in some controllers. BUT l5p DOES work fine for vin change, but others no.

Can you send me an encrypted file that fails to flash? And include the serial and license number of the device that was used to flash the file.

I don't see that, if the file is modified and not saved you can't flash it until you save it.
If you mean the file has bad checksums when opened (but the file has not been modified by EFILive) then yes, you can flash that without any warnings (since the file has not been modified by the EFILive software).

Can you tell me the OS number in the ECM and send me the (incompatible) file that you are able to flash into that ECM?

You may need to check the two "GM Only" boxes:
"Clear DTCs before changing VIN" and
"Obtain secure access before changing VIN".
If that still doesn't work, can you log a support ticket (if you have not already) and provide a trace file of the failed attempt?
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul, I will email videos, it will be much easier. So you can watch exactly how to reproduce the issues.
As for the vin changes, yes, i am aware that some have to have those checked, for the vin and vats, however, checking or non checking it is not working on some. I will make a list. HOWEVER, even though v7. complains about firmware issues or no longer supported,, it still works just fine to change the vins, where the v8 fails. LB7 was one of them if you have an ecm laying around.

Thanks for the video, I can see the issue/bug. When you use the [Check License] or [Activate License] buttons, they clear/bypasses the "modified flag" and after that you can flash the controller without saving the file.
If you just click [Cal-Flash] or [Full-Flash] without clicking either of the license buttons then the flash will not be allowed until the file is saved and the check-sums have been updated.
I will fix that bug, thanks for the info.

I just changed the VIN on an LB7 here using V8 and a FlashScan V3 and it changed successfully.
If yours is still failing, can you save a *.calm trace file directly from the V3 after the VIN change has failed and send that, that would help. Better if you can do it via the help desk, that way it won't get lost or overlooked.

Any chance we will be supporting this controller? It's a GM Global B. 12710193
I just paid HP tuners 900 to not be able to get it to even take a write process...

Scanning is currently supported - flashing is on the "to do" list.
