Hi, so I'm about to buy a Flashscan.

Initially I want to data log, fault check, delete the rear lambdas and maybe increase the idle rpm's. It's also running rich on fuelling. Can I do this without buying a licence?

My later plans are to have somebody review the logs and improve the tune for me so that I can download it, presumably with the flashscan.

Am I thinking this through correctly? The engine's retrofitted but stock, no cats. Ls7/E38 pcm.

Thanks.

You do want the Flash Scan, not the Auto Cal, if you are going to do any tuning modifications yourself.
I'm not sure if you could data log or check faults without a license, I kind of doubt it, but you will need a license to change anything or flash a tune file.

You will download your file with your flashscan.
Then you can have someone modify it or you modify it yourself. Then when you go to Flash it back in you will license the file.

You can download the tune file, review and log data, clear codes etc without a license.
But if you buy Flashscan as above, then you will have a license to be able to change stuff.

Whats the engine? LS7? Are you sure its rich? Might just be because you have no cats!?

Rear O2s will complain its rich, but its just got no cat. Front sensors will tell you if they are working ok and switching lean/rich and trimming fuel etc.

Moving on, is it possible to buy a second hand Flashscan to check codes and delete things not needed? Then I could seek out a tuner if needed or buy a liscense.

Yea you can use the flashscan to check codes and clear codes. But you have to license the PCM before being able to flash any changes.
