LS1B PCM. hey guys what is going on with the V8 program, i had a car i tuned last year and he took it elsewere and had some work done and he wants some things fixed, they used HP and i want to write over it with my original file but the v8 program wont do anything when i press auto detect, it does more with the pcm disconnected as it has a picture of the flashscan with an X, but does nothing with the pcm plugged in, i can read the file no problems with HP but i hate HP and want to use efilive never use to have these problems with the v7 program.
i told him ill have to send it away and get it factory reset, his not happy and is just going to try and find another pcm and i said i have to license it though.

between locked PCM's and this problem thats 6 PCM's ive sent away to be factory reset in the last year

IF you used HP and the PCM has one of their custom operating systems then you cant read it with EFI.

Thanks for the reply, yes I'm aware that I can't read it with efilive, after talking with efilive and realising I had a brain fart I could right click and manually select the controller it recognises it but says it's locked, I can read it with hp so I'm unsure if it's been locked from just modifying it with hp or efilive just thinks it's locked as I'm not familiar with locking them as I believe it's a c...ts act, anyway I've posted it to Sydney yesterday to be factory reset.
I use to just be able to write over hp tunes with efilive in the old program but having a bugger of a time lately, I still use the v7 program for editing and v8 for flashing as I find it easier to use but that could just be 14 years of being use to it.

You can force a flash with EFI to overwrite it.

You just have to take the PCM cover off first

just manually select the ecu in the drop list. will flash fine after that if it's not locked.

do it all the time.

if it's locked, you can just temporary put a pin to gnd on the back of the pcm to force it unlocked.

thanks for nthe reply, i manuallly selected it but it said it was locked, i could read it with hp but i don't know if i could write to it with hp as it wanted me to license if first, could have just been write locked ?
i tried the earth on the reset pin trick a few years ago and it didnt work,i coulded read it with efilive or hp after it so i had to send it away anyhow

ive seen it reported as locked. hpt changes the seed/key combo on them.

if you do manage to read it out with HPT and it's not tuner locked.

hit the calibration info button, it will tell you the security key in hex. use that key in efilive as the custom key starting with a # sign.

Either use that key to put it back to stock seed, or do a full flash with another file.

would this be the security key 0xEB13 ?
so i would put #0xEB13 ?
ill have to try it on another one as ive already sent this one away and it at my post office box this morning.
