What is this thread for?
This thead is to cover frequently asked questions about PCM Operating systems (OS). This thread will be monitored and pruned on a regular basis.

Can I upgrade my 1997-1998 OS to a 1999+ OS?
Unfortunately, no. The '97 '98 PCM's are a different hardware platform and will not support the later operating systems.

How do I upgrade my 1999+ OS to a later year OS?

You will need the Commercial or Workshop version of EFILive in order to perform OS upgrades. Commercial and Workshop licenses can be purchased here (http://www.efilive.com/c-5-Upgrades.aspx)

Go to Holden Crazy (http://www.holdencrazy.com/EFILive/stockTunes.php) and download a stock tune from a matching make model as you are upgrading.

Edit:
For those starting from scratch, Holden Crazy (http://www.holdencrazy.com/EFILive/modifiedTunes.php) has been updated with stock 1999 calibrations on 2002 OS's. Currently you can download a 1999 A4 Camaro on 2002 OS and a 1999 M6 Camaro on 2002 OS. More conversions to come...

Open two instances of the tune tool. In the first instance open your oringinal tune. In the second instance open the tune you are upgrading to.

You will then need to copy and paste each table over. During the copy paste process, you will notice not every table between the two tunes exists in the other (i.e. back up ve table). Don't worry about these tables. You will also find in some tables, that the row's and columns are inverted. The tune tool has a utility that allows you invert tables. To get to this utility press ctrl+alt+enter.

This may take you several hours to compete, but it is necessary. Just be patient and make sure you get every matching table copied over.

When the copy process is complete, you will need to perform a full flash to get the later OS into your PCM.

When the flash is complete, you want to download the tune from the PCM, then compare the downloaded tune to the tune you flashed into the pcm. There should be no differences. The comparison is a very important step to make sure the download was sucessful.

Which OS's are similar?

I did this too, from 12202088 to 12212156, I found no inverted tables in this transition (or at least I didn't see any).

12202088 and 12212156 had the exact same tables from my recollection :) Same with 12202088 to 12225074 (Holden 2001-2002 conversion).

When converting from a 99 to 02 OS the following tables cannot be transfered:

{B5911}
{B5907}
{B3334}
{B3335}
{B3336}
{B6245}
{B6612}

There are various mis-matched tables between the OS's that have to "best-fit"
