on a 2000 5.3 what can I tune with out a wideband 02? can the stock 02 be used for any type of fuel/air tuning?

You can try and get the ve table dialed in for normal cruise, but many have seen problems from that when going to a wideband. It doesn't reflect the correct values and is off. Best bet is to invest in a wideband.

I used the STFTs to dial in part throttle tuning on my stock internals '02 Z28 and my friend's cam'd T/A. As long as there are no exhaust leaks and the stock O2's are active, it should be fine using them everywhere PE doesn't kick in. I'd still leave PE active, DFCO active and all that fun stuff since you can filter it out in the log. The only thing I would turn off (if they're withing +/- 10%) is LTFT's and the MAF (if you want to adjust VE - don't forget to copy high spark to low). Then, you can take the average of the STFT's recorded and adjust either the VE or the MAF - which ever one you're working on at the time.
