I know I've read another post where a 99/00 OS can be upgraded to a custom OS such as 09381344 to 01290001 with the latter being based on 12225074. Question would be. Which systems can I actually upgrade my 99 pcm to? My OS is 09360361.

Check the Custom OS tutorial, it has a list of supported versions.

That's what I just got finished up on which leads me to the following. Since I have upgraded to OS 12212156(2002 Trans Am) with good results, ie: car starts and runs, seems to drive good. A little more VE tuning now with the change over but back to the Q? Can I now convert to custom OS 02020003 and then flash the cal from the 12212156 tune?

Oh yeah....and is 0202003 considered OS5? I don't see anything higher than 003 in the COS bins.
I know stupid question but I had to ask. It's what I get for being a latecommer to the self tune world.

I'd say the Stock OS candidates are 12202088 (01 Camaro or TransAm) or 12212156 (02 Camaro or TransAm).

I would suggest trying 12212156 first and if it just flat doesn't work (may be something specific in the Operating System that doesn't like your platform). Failing that go to 12202088. Both OS's have basically the same tables.

Each Stock Os has its corresponding Custom OS. The Custom OS stream for the 12212156 OS currently has a V5 Custom OS developed for it, so if you were interested in the TPS VE Table that would be available for ya ;)

Hope that helps.

Ross posted in the OS5 thread with a link to download the OS5 bins and associated cals. If you can't find them PM me and I'll email to ya.

Thanks Tordne. The 12212156 seems to work on the car unless there is something I should watch out for. Once I finish up the VE tweaking then it's on to OS5. Woohoooo. Best 50 bucks to save bordom I've ever spent.

I'd expect you'd notice if there was going to be something "wrong" with that OS in your car... For example, when I was younger and stupider I tried putting the 12212156 Os in my car (my car came stock with 12202088 so I figured I might have been able to). Anyway, car wouldn't even turn over, even will all my tables copied across to it!

Violator - To save the number of potential OS flashes, I would suggest going to OS5 and disabling the features you do not wish to use. When you're ready for the additional features, it's only a matter of a cal only flash.
