I see that there isn't a 2bar for the 98's at the moment, but I'm just wondering what there is in regards to 98's? Is the custom os part of the commercial version limited to 99+?

Yes, just for 99+

In that case, has anyone put a newer pcm in a 98?

yes - it's been done, but it's not easy.

Not as fun as modifying a Lot 6 (early 90s) F/A-18 Hornet to serve on the US Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron.:D Been there, done that, got the coin.

Just another quick question: The 98 vettes still have the incompatible pcm also correct? They didn't get a one year jump or anything like the ls1?

As far as I know man, 97-98 vettes had the same pcm.

I know I am already considered a "turncoat" as far as the 98 community goes but here goes...If you have taken care of your 97-98 F, Y body with meticulous care, possibly the original owner, the conversion is really not that hard, bad, considering most who frequent these boards are not afraid of and jump right into such a "radical" thing as a cam swap. The only difference is the amount of proven published information on the subject. If you are reading this now you are at least familiar with idea. I work in a government lab and it still took me 2 years to convince a "old dog" in the lab that he might as well migrate to WinXp on his machines at home. Until then he magnificently maintained a stellar Win98Se network in his house. He would come to work everyday and complain about maintaining it and complain about it's inadquacies and what not...If you love your car, it's not that hard to do. If you don't love your car, then it's a good excuse to get rid of it and start over with a 99+up. Bottom line, I know this will piss off some but seeing how there is only one Ross, and one Paul, I would just as soon see them spending precious development time with bigger EFI Live owner segments...There are fewer 97-98 pcms/vehicles in existance plain and simple. In order to facilitate such a radical reformation of an operating system that is so inadequate to begin with, for such a small population demographic would be tantamount to a wasteful, bloated, government defence program that I am all too familiar with. Ross, Paul keep playing to win!

We have been thru this topic before... I expect we're all big enough to keep our replies civilized.
