There is a new PLX that can be used with a laptop for $200.
The PLX is not fancy, does not need to be calibrated and it just works.

so I can't just get wb o2 and put them in place of my old ones.

You can, but it is often considered, seldom done. You are probably better off with a separate bung for the WB sensor or use one of the rear bungs temporarily.

The lc1 is in-expensive as well, but takes a bit to get set up right.

A spare bung for the WB is not a bad idea. I run open loop full time and installed my LC-1's in the primary (BxS1) locations.

My passenger-side NB O2 was dead, so I just put the WB O2 in instead ... no problem so far, works fine ...

I just recently welded my LC-1 bung into the I pipe where there's a nice notch in the floorpan giving great room for install. I had it in the PS header but wanted to get AF of both sides combined. The sensor threads stripped taking it out of the header so a new sensor is in store before checking the difference from header to I pipe.

BTW, if you need a replacement sensor and know someone with an account with NAPA, they are listing the 17014 Bosch sensor for 69.00 list and 42.00 cost for the shop I work at. After looking at Advance and Autozone for the same part I think NAPA has their pricing wrong so get em while you can. I ordered 3.

For those kind of prices, you may as well get a second controller so you can see what's going on in both banks

Just when reading one was enough to drive you nut! :)

Did someone post that they used a WB o2 in the rear position? After the cats? I have always wondered if this can be done with any accuracy as the cats remove raw hydrocarbons not air. Many times I pull of the tail pipe to baseline a car prior to mods and it seems pretty accurate thus far. Any thoughts on this?

I think pre or post cat comes down to splitting hairs, as many folks get similar results either way. My preference is pre-cat as it eliminates the cat as a potential variable.

I am now running mine in the pipe back under the passenger rear seat but the cats have been removed from my car.......or, I mean... they fell off about two years ago and I couldn't find them..............lol

I did some testing a while ago with two WB sensors (connected to LM1s) one in front of and one behind the catalytic converter. The difference was .1 AFR at wide open throttle. At part throttle, the difference is greater because the exhaust flow through the converter is slower so oxygen content changes more. You can see a bit of the part throttle situation by monitoring front and rear NB O2 sensors.
