I'd appreciate any help that you can provide.

I had Jesse Bubb program a COS5 with tune (attached) to download into a 1999 Pontiac Firebird. I have EFI Live Commercial version.

When I flashed the complete operating system with tune into the Moates Road Runner, the car will start and idle smoothly for 3 seconds and shut down. It sets a DTC U1000 Class 2 Data Link Instrument Panel Cluster HC.

If I restart the car it does the same thing....idles smoothly for 3 seconds and shuts off.

Are you attempting to utilize the TPS VE table? If so, you will need to disable it and log the VE PID (don't recal the name off the top of my head), to populate the TPSVE map initially. Make sure you are using the native units when populating the TPSVE map.

The boys did a good job expaining the procedure in this (long) thread http://www.forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=2599

Not using TPSVE.

The DTC I posted has nothing to do with it also. I just reflashed my maf tune into the RR and it started right up with the same DTC present.

So you're running an SD tune with COS5 then?

What is the MAF fail limit set at? {C2903} is the parameter for that.

2hz 18 failures

Set the hz to 1, 1 failure.

The 18 failures is probably the problem. It'll take quite sometime to hit that... probably 18 starts/stalls. :)

Reset it to 1,1 and it still runs for 3 seconds and shuts down :(

Has the MAF DTC set yet?

Can you do a compare between that tune and your MAFLess tune that works and see if there is something horribly out of whack?

Check your settings in G1201. On some vehicles depending on what it is I have to set it to either none or PWM. If that doesn't work let me know and I'll get you setup.

Checked (It's a firebird). Already was set to "none"

No maf dtc set.

I might try to load cos5 and then load a cal file to it.

maf dtc sis set.

Here's something strange...map reads 51.7kpa key on engine off. When the engine fires it reads 23.5kpa for 3 seconds.

I'll try the pwm.

Original 1 bar map read 94.5kpa key on engine off.

Mind sending me the tune?

Sent the file. I appreciate all help!

"PWM" did the same as "none".

The map reading looks bad to me...same 2bar GM brown label that plugs in....should read 94.5 key on engine off though...not 51.

I haven't received it yet.

Check C6301. If you've got a 2 bar sensor installed, it should be in the 190-194 range (192 worked for me).

Very strange, everything looks correct...

The key-on, engine off kPa you're seeing looks more like a 2-bar map in a 1-bar OS than in a 2-bar OS...

Can you do a PCM read and check to be sure that it matches the tune that you flashed in?
Have you tried a COS 3 tune to see if it works?

PCM matches. I haven't used a COS3.

Somehow, my problem surrounds map tuning or the map itself. I rescaled the map to 94 for grins, but it wouldn't start at all and the key on engine off did not change from 51.7-52kPa

I looked over the tune, I am going to say that you may also have a bad map sensor or it isn't plugged in correctly.

Here's some confusing data I got this morning:

Downloaded the original 1bar tune and reinstalled the 1bar map. key on engine off = 94.5 kPa

Left the 1 bar map in and downloaded the 2bar tune with 188 scaler. key on engine off = 94.5 kPa snapped the 2bar map in. key on engine off = 52 kPa.

reflashed the 1 bar tune in but left the 2bar map plugged in. key on engine off = 52kPa.

Shouldn't the 188 scaler in the 2 bar tune change the 1 bar map reading?????

Ordered another 12580698 2bar gm map sensor.

Disregard all of the map info above. I've always logged gm.map. That's fine for a 1bar. Need to use sae.map for the 2bar. The 2bar map reads 94kPa as it should in the 2 bar tune....back to the drawing board.

Well, the starter tune is wacked.

Black02SS has been a HUGE HELP! Can't say THANK YOU enough.

Have you tried just full flashing in the COS5 base and then a stock cal to just see if it will fire up and run?

Black02SS

We have it runing. We are now fine tuning the idle. There wasn't anything wrong with his cal file, but it could have been the tune itself. All is well now just fine tuning it.
