I'm going to attempt to change to an 02 from an 00 OS. In the sticky's it says to copy every old table to the new OS. My question is, do you have to do this just to save what tuning has been done previously?

In other words, if I've done only minimal tuning, can I just flash the stock 02 tune that I downloded from Holden Crazy and tune from that base? My intention is actually to migrate to OS 5 once the 02 system is in.

That is correct. If you want to start from stock again then you don't need to copy the data from the original tables.

Will there be any conflicts in the system with the VIN and OS? In other words, will any problems occur with the PCM or with Scan/Tune when an 00 VIN is coupled with an 02 OS?

Worked fine on my car ... went from 00 to COS5 ...

You can use the Scantool to program your VIN back to the PCM

I also have an 00 ... would reflashing to the 02 system potentially cause any driveability or operating problems? I compared a lot of tables last night and they are quite different - the Main VE table, for instance.

I am interested in doing this to simplify the Auto VE tune that I'll do after I get headers installed. But the car would have to run well in the meantime.

It is very common practice from what I've seen to go to the latest version of the OS's. Camaro/TransAm for instance go to 12212156 for instance.

That's what I am planning to do ... just wondering if there were any potential issues to be aware of.

It will either work or it won't :)

I tried putting a different OS in my car and it just wouldnt crank.

Well, that's pretty simple ... I was thinking along the lines of running, but running like crap.

It is very common practice from what I've seen to go to the latest version of the OS's. Camaro/TransAm for instance go to 12212156 for instance. I upgraded my 2000 SS from 09381344 to 12212156 over a year ago and haven't had any issues.

Here are my notes:

Base calibration is a stock 2002 Camaro/Manual (OS 12212156)

Modification summary:
Enable EGR
Update Engine DTC Processing Enablers from 2000 calibration
Update Engine DTC MIL Enables from 2000 calibration
Update Injector Flow Rate table from 2000 calibration
Disable CAGS
Remove speed limiter
Tweak fans on/off settings
Change to 3.73 rear gearSince then I've done some VE and MAF tuning. (It has passed smog in this configuration.)

There are some stock 00-to-02 tunes out on holdencrazy, or - if you have a modified tune on your 00 now - just go through the hazzle of copying them one by one ...

Thanks - that's the kind of info I was looking for - specifically, with the different injectors and intake, what 00 tables need to apply, and beyond those, what else? I have a host of A4 tranny mods that I'll need to transfer, but I think that'll still be easier in the long run than copying VE to backup tables. I plan to build a 12212156 with all my mods and the necessary 00 tables and then flash it.

I went from 99 to 04 tune on top of an 04 COS5, well 3 originally.
Other than injector flow for the girly 99 injectors I just used a stock 04 HSV tune. Gained 35KW right off the bat. Then went from there.
