View Full Version : Getting PCM Locked Message

Hi Guys,

I'm posting for a friend of mine that just received V2. When he tries to connect to the PCM (2006 vette) it acts like it's going to connect and then partway through he gets a message that says 'PCM Locked'. I'm not familiar with V2 but after speaking to him on the phone it doesn't seem different than V1 except when you have to choose which GEN XX engine you're working with. Can anyone tell me what might be causing this problem?

Thanks

Dont' know. I'll have to find out. How would this cause the problem?

Just for everyone elses benefit who may have the same issue, this was the reply sent from EFILvie support:

There are three possible reasons that can happen.

(Edit: all these points have been covered by the questions asked by previous posters in this thread - you're all on the ball guys, nice!)

1. The ECM really is locked, i.e. another tuner has tuned the ECM and locked the tune. In that case the tuner who locked it will need to unlock it.

2. EFILive displays the ECM's seed value as $FFFF in green text in the information window of the ECM flash reading window. If that is the case, then enter the value $FFFF in the Key field in the top left of the ECM reading window (include the $ sign).

3. You are attempting to read an LS2 (E38) ECM. EFILive does not have support for the E38 ECM yet, it will be supported in early 2007.

You can tell the difference between the E40 and E38 ECMs: The E40 had three plugs on it, the E38 has only 2.

Paul

Thank you for all the replies. I've been away the last 5 days but will talk to my buddy and see if any of these are the issues. Will report back my findings.

Found out the reason for the PCM being locked. It turned out that the car has the EC38 series PCM in it. Will have to wait until the boys have the program available hopefully early in 2007.

Thanks.

What are you selecting for your pcm type? You need to select 99+ ls1 for it.

Why, it is an 06?

OK, that worked ?

The year of the vehicle is not as important as the PCM type controlling it all :)
